I considered some of these answers to be highly insulting....until I looked at the sources and realized some of you wouldn't know a good film of any category....

Top 3 Chick Flicks I have ever seen w/ a girl
#3 (tie).  Knotting Hill / 4 Weddings & A Funeral
#2.  The Notebook
#1.  Sense & Sensibility

#3 are both somewhat funny and tolerable
#2 has a good story and McAdams is a babe
#1 has a great cast (who doesn't love Alan Rickman?) and a pretty good plot for a period piece.

Worst - Family Man

Call me a sap, but I love my kids more than anything!

I consider this comment to be highly insulting if you are insinuating that I am one of these "highly insulting answers"
I critique movies on IMDB and am an avid DVD collector. I know my films. I didn't see you giving any examples...

I don't really know how to label a movie a chick flick...

If the Princess Bride counts then absolutely.

Titanic I suppose could be considered a chick flick.
Definitely, Maybe is definitely a chick flick I know that. That was a good movie.
Atonement... If this is a chick flick it's probably the best chick flick ever made.
Garden State is good as well.

Then again, maybe none of these are chick flicks, I have no idea.

Garden state = great movie.

My girlfriend made me watch "Love Actually" a couple weeks ago.  For a chick flick, i thought it was hilarious.

I not sure it qualifies, but Casablanca is one of the greatest love stories ever, and when I think love story I think chick flick.

An Affair to Remember is another classic.

Out of all the gin joints in all the world, she had to walk into mine.
You played it for her you can play it for me.
The flashback from Paris.
The big sending her away with her hubby at the end.

Sorry my friend, but a chick flick it is.

  • Be the posts you wish to see in the world.
Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion is surprisingly funny.  Chick flicks don't have to be weepy melodramas, y'know (though most of them are).

What? No way. I mean if Casablanca is a chick flick cuz there is romance in it, then so are like 80% of James Bond Movies...I mean romance pops up in almost all movies eventually, but it doesn't make it a "chick flick". I think Chick Flick means a movie directed and written (and cast) in such a fashion that it stereotypically related more to women than men. A movie like Say Anything, or "The Family Stone"...you can't put one of the best motion pictures of all time on that list.

I would consider Casablanca to be a chick flick and that is another excellent movie. I'll also throw Grease out there as well. I know it's a musical but it speaks more to women than it does to men. I like it though. I think I might like too many chick flicks... I wonder if that's a bad thing.
