It all stems from a conversation to start the Big Show. Maxwell noted that he had talked to KG and that he mentioned the knee still wasn't "right". He went on to say that he noticed, and Ordway concurred with this though I saw no evidence of it on television, that KG appeared to be dragging his right leg a bit and that his lateral movement was off.

Maxwell went on to mention that he had a knee strain and that he dragged his leg just like KG is now and that he eventualy found out he had torn cartiledge and needed surgery. He didn't claim to say that was what was wrong but that being a person who had played the game and had seen enough players with similar injuries to guess that might be what was happening here.

The two speculated as to whether KG might not be 100% at all the rest of the year and that KG might think it wiser to shut it down and make it right than to risk long term problems. The two also noted that if he doesn't make that decision then it is imperative of Doc getting KG back with the rest of the team to be able to get their defensive and offensive timing in sync.

I didn't hear anything after that but that is the jist of how the subject was brought up at the start of the show.

Ugh, my heart just skipped a beat.

But if the injury was that serious why would KG come back so early? It makes no sense. I am going with knee sprain and that some extra rest will take care of it...

Thanks Drucci!  And a TP for you because I didn't even notice that I had hit 1000 posts.  I would have been wondering later which post and I wouldn't have known.

I second that, Nick.

I hate talking heads that just speculate and scare the crap out of unsuspecting people.

KG has missed 18 games so far this season(more then any in his career), when he has played hes been off/on limping on that leg all season and averaging 16/7...somethings going on there that isnt good...and this recent "setback" is scary and points to this injury possibly  being more serious then reported and something that will linger the rest of the season....

Meanwhile PP and ray allen have been overplayed

I don't see how KG could even play on a torn acl, maybe some loose cartilage but not a torn acl.

I'm going assume they were speculating, because I don't like the alternative.

I heard about 2 minutes of it, and I can tell you they absolutely were just speculating.  Max was saying how there was a chance there was damage to the knee that wouldn't have been seen on the MRI, and can only be seen if its scoped, so they were discussing the possibility that if he continues being bothered by it, they may decide to have it scoped, and learn that he has something that he can't simply play through.

I wouldn't put much stock into it though, they were just throwing it out there, because they needed something to talk about.

We probably will not figure out how horrific KG's injury is until after the playoff tickets are sold.

Well, I admit I was screaming at the TV for Doc to take Pierce out when up 14 with 4 minutes to go last night, but in fairness the last five games have Pierce averaging 36 minutes and Ray averaging 33.6.  Not terrible, but let's hope they get some extra rest over the last 2 weeks.

of course when big al gets injured kg is not too far behind to also. Kg has been durable for a such a long time that this was eventually expected especially how he intense he plays every possesion

single most important thing is to get him back healthy. To the pt of sitting him down even in the 1st round.

If we lost 1st round even without kg that is pretty sad

Most of them are already sold.  Season ticket holders already had to buy them.  I don't think they will have any trouble selling the rest of the very few remaining tickets, regardless of KG's health.

Besides, I can almost guarantee you the Celtics do not think the injury is that bad.  If they did, he never would have come back, and they would already be having it scoped, so if its clean, he will be back sooner.  They may be getting a little more nervous now, since its been lingering, but I still don't think they know that more than what they have said.

It's really hard to speculate on this injury.  Certainly if we knew that sitting out the 1st series would result in a 100% KG for the remainder of the playoffs then it would be a no-brainer.  If, on the other hand, this is going to be a naggng injury for the remainder of the season/playoffs no matter how much rest he gets in the next few weeks, then I'd rather see him in round one to get the team rolling on a solid playoff rotation and to avoid wearing out PP, Ray, Rondo and BBD by have to grit through a tough 1st round.  And I do think Philly in the 1st round will be a series with no KG -- I think we win, but it will be a challenge.

THANK YOU!!! why in God's name would they even put him on the court after Utah if they even thought it was torn? i am pretty sure the C's have a team of GREAT doctors that would have found a tear ASAP....i for think it is sore because he actually player and didn't just run on a treadmill....if he was hurt bad...Doc wouldn't proclaim him ready for friday

Hey, I'm no huge fan of management, but even I don't think they'd deal a potential franchise player for Garnett and then run him out there on a torn ACL that isn't even braced significantly.

Gotta realize, folks, that sports talk radio - like other talk radio - is entertainment. It's rarely news. Shouldn't take it as seriously as this thread indicates.
