I'm not sure what, if anything, Bonzi adds at this point. Can he still play? Is he worth the gamble in the locker room? He hasn't lasted for more than one full season with any team he's been on since he left Portland, which is telling. He just doesn't really seem like an "ubuntu" type of guy.
Bonzi seems like Tony Allen with a worse attitude. Is that the player we should be adding for the stretch run? I agree that we need a backup swingman who can defend, but is Wells the answer?
I dont know about his attitude, but what I do know, is he can play, he holds the trail blazers franchise record for points in a playoff game(45) and is 3 years removed from averaging 23 pts / 12 rebounds 62% from 3 and 60% from the field in a playoff series against the spurs, and I remember last year in New Orleans him playing a big role in their win against us guarding pierce, and word is he played great in china, but again his attitude is obviously a problem - cant be as bad as marburys
How do you know he can *still* play? It's pretty irrelevant what he did in Portland, or three years ago. Last year in the playoffs, he averaged 3.7 points on 38.6% shooting.
As for China, Wells was playing in one of the weakest leagues in the world. Rodney White led their league in scoring, with 35.6 points per game. Gabe Muoneke, Leon Rodgers, Dontae Jones, Kirk Snyder, Michael Harris, Lee Benson, Mack Tuck, and Donnell Harvey -- along with Wells -- round out the top ten, all averaging at least 29.8 points. I'm not overly impressed.
