Putting the cart before the horse here, but which would be the better late season pair of signings.  Marbury & Smith this year or PJ & Sam last year?

Yup

Marbury and Smith have the potential to be much more effective. They are both about 4-5 years younger then PJ and Sam so they still have some athletic ability . They just have to get buy outs and prove it.

PJ was better at battering opponents though. Not likely we can replace his physical play. We will go the more finesse route.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
PJ and Sam, in my opinion, when the C's got both of them, and they had Posey last season, I really thought of them as a complete team with no weaknesses. Joe and Starbury, would be great additions, but I don't get the same sense of "security" with them.

I was thinking the same thing.  It still always comes back to Posey.

I'm getting greedy now and don't want the weight of #18 to rest on Perk's shoulder, so I say let's add Smith, Moore and Marbury.

And let's start giving Billy Walker the experience he needs so he can provide tenacious D on the stronger 3's.

To me, Smith and Brown are about even in terms of what they can offer.  In his prime, P.J. was probably more valuable since he was a better defender than Smith.  However, P.J. wasn't in his prime last year and Smith is no slouch himself on the defensive end.  Smith, like Brown, can rebound, play defense, and can hit the outside shot from 15-18 feet out.

As for Marbury, he can't be much less useful than Cassell, and that's coming for someone who was a Cassell supporter.  I think Cassell could've done more last year for the team, but he certainly didn't help all that much on the way to #17.

With that in mind, I think Marbury and Smith would be at least as good as Brown and Cassell.  Let's hope Danny can pull it off.
