Orlando got Rafer Alston from Houston and sent a first rounder to Memphis and Brian Cook to Houston and a few more players to be named.  Houston gets Kyle Lowry from Memphis to replace Alston.

That definitely helps Orlando... except point guards need more than 30 or so games to really understand the system and run a team well.

Good trade for Orlando. I'm wondering if that Baron-T-Mac deal is back on?

i hope so much that T-Mac gets banished to the Clippers, he's done and The Beard still has game in him.

Yup, good move for Orlando, Alston isn't as good as Nelson, but it was downright painful watching Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue try to chase Chris Paul around last night.  Alston helps them defensively (at least compared to the current guys), can score a bit, and puts Johnson back to being a backup PG, where he's actually above average.

Rafer Alston has played for Stan Van Gundy before, in Miami. He'll adapt quickly. He had a good understanding about what SVG wanted from him the last time around.

Does this clear the way for Aaron Brooks to start in Houston? Last I checked, Rockets were still play off bound, so that's one serious vote of confidence in the sophomore.

It's also seemingly another tough time share for Lowry.

Good.  I didn't hate anyone on Orlando before the trade.  Now it will be more fun to root against them.  Rondo-Alston fist fight in the second round?

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Alston's not a very good point guard, but he will fit in there, there wont be a lot of responsibilities placed on him.

The rockets are playoffs bound and always are but are always missing T-Mac or Yao... therefore unable to move out of the first round. There's no chance they leave the west this year victorious.
