with the loss of the chandler trade. take your piok: peterson? peterson and wright? posey? come up with something, they're more likely to take our junk than most. and i gotta say: melvin ely didn't look half-bad last night against the magic.

here's mine:

straight salary dump, both short and long term. gotta give up wright to get rid of mo pete.

??? They end up spending more in the short term with this trade.

sorry, no. NO saves this year, over 2mil next year, and 6.5 mil in 2011. Shinn saves close to $10mil. POB is not guaranteed next year.

Were they really that desperate to move salary? Or desperate to trade a guy who may have a chronic injury that transforms his contract on an albatross?

good question. but a) chandler was / is their most movable high-priced player (peja is untradable), and b) peterson is playing behind posey for the same money and supposedly they have not been able to move him.

espn keeps pointing out that NO is losing money hand over fist. the arena is almost never full and the presense of the thunder can't be helping. point is, it's possible.

ely would certainly help, wright is a very talented player, and peterson is shooting over 40% from 3 and can still defend and be relaible in extended minutes (unlike our buddy TA). and our cassell roster spot is still there...

by the way, it's a sheer coincidence that this link was just posted on the front page. i didn't take it. roy pointed out this site some time back, it's a great resource i use to look at salaries in future years. So don't deny me the TP hook up!

New Orleans is going through hard times and it's looking rough for the Hornets.  Bill Simmons has talked recently as if he's heard there's a lot of talk going down as far as teams moving and if there's one I'd say looks most likely it's New Orleans.

I also feel for Chris Paul.  It looked like things would come together for him and everything suddenly fell through this season.
