There could be a new guard in town for the Rockets -- and it's not Vince Carter. Houston has moved into negotiations with the Clippers for point guard Baron Davis, a source close to Davis told SportingNews.com on Wednesday. "It would be best for everyone if Baron moved on," the source said.

I can see the motivation for both teams here.  The Clippers really are a joke, though.

Who else do you ask for if you're Houston?

I was just looking at this too, the Rockets have to do this if LA is willing. They need a good point guard so bad, and McGrady will never be a full time contributor to a contender.

Hopefully Camby, right before the Cavs offer Wally for him.

What's going to happen for Tmac after he gets to the Clips if this trade does happen?

He's probably going to fall off the face of the earth faster than an elephant dropped from a plane.

Or....he get bought out and signed by the Rockets again...and then disaster strikes...for the Rockets...with not enough balls to share on the court. lol

P.S. the Clippers really are a joke lol
Anything is possible!!!

Camby.  Need his salary to match.
If that happens... phew!

EDIT: I just hope it is not a three way that sends Wally and B. Davis to Houston, Camby to Cleveland and T-Mac to LAC...
Celtics fan for life.

you know what would help the NBA more than adjusting the salary cap? Some sort of "are you SURE you want to do that?" independent panel. EVERYBODY with some sense knew that Brand, Arenas, Davis, and Maggette shouldn't have been getting close to the deals they were receiving. If you could eliminate the dumb owners from making these deals and setting bad precedence (because you know next offseason some player is going to say "well Maggette got XXX amount, so I should get YYY amount," and another dumb owner freaking out and giving in) the NBA would be in much better shape.

I don't buy that it is for T-Mac.  I think the Clips will be looking to get either some value, or a real expiring contract for Davis, and T-Mac is neither.  The deal that does make sense however is Artest (plus another small contract like Head) for Baron.

It will never happen, but what if there was some sort of salary per production limit for players... Say if you don't reach certain standards owners aren't allowed to deal out a max or near max contract for said player.

That's probably against the law to do something, but it really would help everyone in the league. I really don't know how guys like Jason Richardson make over 12 million a year. He's a nice player and all... But really? For him?

If this happens, fantastic for Houston. I hope it does, I'd like to see more competition in the West.

I'll also chime in with the thought that the Clippers really are a joke.

I think the better question is:

Does anybody think the Clippers are NOT a joke?

It doesn't sound like a legit rumour. Why would the Clippers do this? They can surely do better for Baron Davis.

I'll trade you a bad back for a torn ACL...
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

yeah that team is a total mess right now...I mean, who is that team when you look at its roster?

gosh, I wish we could be one of the teams to benefit from their crazy mismanagement...
