He's shooting 48-86-44 this season and its only going up. He scored a career high of 47 last night on 16-27 shooting. He's a more efficient scorer than Kobe ever was or ever will be. Not even Larry Bird could shoot 44% on 3s. I've never seen a 20 year old NBA player in the last 30 years who could score so easily. Kevin Durant going to break all Of Kobe's scoring streaks you like consecutive 50 point games 40 point games and all that. Dwight Howard is also gonna be atop 5 center of all time not even Hakkem could put up a 45-20-8. The NBA is more talented and competitive than ever before!

Can he?  Maybe.  Will he?  Who knows.  I wouldn't put him in the "better than Kobe" category yet, as much as I hate Kobe.

Eh...  Hakeem once averaged 37.5 points and 16.8 rebounds over a playoff series.  When Howard does that, or matches some of Hakeem's other accomplishments (such as back-to-back titles) then the comparison might have some merit.

NVM bout Dwight being better than Hakeem. Dwight will prolly only avg 18 ppg and 12 reb in a playoff series.

Why is this posted on celtics talk? Durant & OJ Mayo are goning to be the "it" guys in the future. Scoring points just comes natural for both.

Durant has that potential for sure.

I just watched him dump 47 points on the Hornets.  That was fun.

Hakeem did have a 46 point, 19 rebound, 8 assist (let's see Howard do that), 3 steal, 3 block at the age of 33... against Minnesota  :(... but the Wolves won!   ;)

He also had a decent 40 point, 24 rebound, 4 assist, 4 block game. (Also a loss...weird).

Wow but I took back my comments on Dwight being better than Hakeem

Its scary to think what this kid's ceiling can be.

G.O.A.T. is awfully tough to throw around, though. I think Durant definitely has the chance to make the argument when all is said and done.

Kobe's closer to Jordan than DH is to Hakeem.
