I think this must be the least exciting trade in Celtic history.

Obviously, something is cooking in the Ainge kitchen.  I assume that Sam will be back in Boston as an assistant soon, but I'm most anxious to see when the other shoe drops.  Lets hope its a BIG one.   ;)

I think you are right.  I had to google Bruno Sundov to see who he was traded for, and he (+ JR Bremer) netted the Cs Jumaine Jones (not a half bad trade IMHO).  So, at this point I have to concur.  Most.Boring.Trade.Ever.

I'd have to disagree.  I don't have the archives to back me up, but just the anticipation that the open roster spot might lead to us picking up a player that can help the team on their championship quest has to put it higher on the list than SOMETHING.  I mean c'mon, didn't we trade for Ben Pepper?  8)

Yeah, but we got the rights to Chris Wallace in that deal, too.  The Wallace era was pure excitement for Celtics fans.

I don't know.

I am pretty sure Ben Pepper could take the Trade Exception one on one.

What was that again? Ben Pepper for a 3rd round pick?  ;D

How heavily protected is "heavily protected"?  To what degree are they allowed to protect a pick?

Could it be something like:

Top 25 round 2 for the next 5 years?
Yup

Whatever both sides agree on. It could be top-59 protected for next season, for instance.

However, I don't think the protections can last forever. At some point, I think we end up with a second rounder from the Kings. It might be 7 years from now (I think that's the maximum length of time any considerations can be protected/put off).

can't the pick expire if it doesn't make it out of protection for a few years? meaning, it goes back to SAC?

Remember the 1st rounder from Minnesota we got in the Wally deal? That had seven years of protection on it, and if those protections were still in effect during that seventh year, Minnesota would have given us their second rounder to complete the deal.

I'm guessing the same thing is in effect here, except because we're talking about a second rounder to begin with, the seventh year would have no restrictions.

I guess we won't know for sure until a formal announcement.
