They have now named the Finals MVP award after Bill Russell.  Awesome then my first thought after hearing it was that KG has to be the first to get it now  ;D

It'd be great to see a Celtic win the first MVP award after it was named after Russell.

I can't express enough how much I admire Bill Russell.  I wasn't alive to see him play but just the way he conducts himself and the respect he gets from others, speaks volumes.  Just an amazing person and its awesome that the NBA decided to name the award after him.

The Bill Russell Award is destined to first be won by a Celtic. I also just saw Russell on the NBA allstar pre game show. He got really emotional. I'm happy that David Stern named the award after one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

KG does deserve to win the Finals MVP this time around and Celtics should be inspired to not let Lakers get their hands on the first one.

It shows what kind of person Russell is that he even gets that choked up over something like this at this point in his life.  However, it seems to mean even more to him knowing that his wife knew it before her passing.

These are special people that don't come along very often.  Congrats, Mr. Russell.

For those of you who missed it, here's the link to the press conference.

That laughter is absolutely contagious... you can't help but smile or laugh along.  Way to go, Bill!

  • The REAL Pau Gasol
Hopefully Pierce can have that award by the end of this year, if Pau Gasol or Kobe ever touch that i'll never be able to watch the NBA again without feeling disturbed.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!
