NBA All Star Saturday 19 years ago -- a bad choice

This weekend is All Star Weekend as we all know.

We all love the Slam Dunk Contest, the 3 point contest and the other skills games they've had throughout the years.  I for one look forward to watching the Saturday evening festivities and have for years, but one year I made a bad choice.

It was 2/10/1990, I was a senior in college, living in North Carolina.  Bird was in the 3 point contest and Dominique in the slam dunk contest.  Watching this stuff on TBS was a no brainer for me.  No one wanted to watch it with me though, because on another channel there was a lopsided sporting event and I being the genius that I am, knew watching Bird and Nique' was the right thing to do.


By the way, anyone remember how the Mike Tyson - Buster Douglas fight turned out anyway?

Man, its been 19 years since Douglas-Tyson?   Wow, that's one of those sporting events that I remember like it was yesterday.  I was a kid but I remember just how shocking it was and the sight of Tyson lying on the mat, grabbing for his mouthpiece was almost inconceivable.

Wow, even without a boxing event to contend with, I think the event this evening was the wrong choice.
