I'm surprised they allowed the step up and the 12 foot rim. Green and Howard were begging for it last year and the NBA denied them both... I predict big fines coming up...

Dwight blew the whole competition with the free throw dunk.

Nate Robinson looks good in green. Also, I think Lex is a good nickname for him.

Yeah.. I heard the NBDL dunk contest was really entertaining, though. James White always puts on a show.

Quite disappointing, however, the dunk Dwight did off the side of the backboard was pretty sick.

Non the less, my favorite dunk is still this one, from also my favorite dunk contest performance.

The height, the spin, the extension, just my favorite dunk.

I hate Nate Robinson, but the fact that the judges were all over Dwight's nuts and the fact that they completely underrated Rudy made me actually text a couple votes for Nate.

I was disgusted with how much they tried (and thankfully failed) at turning that into a Dwight Howard suckfest.

After the judges gave Howard a 50 in the 1st round and Rudy Fernandez was eliminated after converting what ended up being the 2nd best dunk in the entire competition, I was already fed up with the whole thing.

Howard had 3 okay dunks and one spectacular one. Rudy deserved to be in the finals, but I guess between Howard and Robinson, Robinson did deserve to win.

My take is that by using that 12' basket, Dwight killed himself by proving that it's only because he is 7' that he makes a lot of these dunks.  Nate then proceeded to show that he is overall more athletic and won the fans over.

Look, I HATE Nate, but he is an otherworldly athlete.  Dwight is a great athlete who was also gifted with extreme height.  Winner, Lex.

From an entertainment standpoint, I liked it.  I've seen better dunks before, but frankly after 25 years there's really no original dunks left to do.  There came a point that the participants had to turn to showmanship, rather than gimmick-free originality.  And honestly, Nate and Dwight were great entertainers.

The one that didn't belong was JR Smith.  His act and his dunks were just flat out boring.

I actually think Giddens would make a good participant in the contest - he seems like a pretty amusing guy from what I've seen of him.

Entertaining to watch indeeed, but Stern had that rigged up the wazoo. Also who's nto to say Stern won't rig the Finals so he mysteriously has LA vs Boston? I think he knows it would cost alot of money to change all of those "Beat LA" or "Beat Boston" shirts to "Beat Cleveland" just doesn't have the same ring to it  ;)
True Celtic = Leon Powe

nate robinson's second dunk has to go down as one of the worst dunks ever, right?
