Wasn't Rambis the guy the Lakers got just to hack and hassle Kevin McHale? This trade is kindof like that.
I scanned the thread, but I think like one guy has spotted the key player so far. It's a salary dump + a low risk, high reward potential move to counter Rondo. Shannon Brown is the key player for LA. Morrison is also a low risk, something for nothing type deal for them as well because they weren't using Radmanovic, certainly not anywhere near enough to make his salary worth it. But Brown might be a good piece for the playoffs and Morrison, I just don't see that anytime soon.
Brown is listed at 6'4," 211 lbs. They will use him to attack Rondo. Another guy they don't want hurting them is Eddie House. Other teams (Detroit when they had Chauncey) have a big guard they can use to try and limit Eddie's effectiveness. They are also probably thinking about doing the same thing to Mo Williams and Tony Parker. Jackson will want him to be a physically beats-you-down option like Ron Harper. What does a point guard need to do for LA on offense other than hit open shots or beat people up after he passes to Kobe.
Radman...hell of a three point shooter. I don't see how you can't find a way to use that, but I guess Phil gave up on him. I thought Drew Gooden could hurt the C's in the same way, but the Cavs got rid of him too. Is Morrison even going to play in serious games? I'd guess not.
Morrison will continue to get clobbered if they play him. Against us he'd have to guard either Ray (who would light him up so bad), or Paul (who could light him up and would crush him physically). If he only played against our bench...Powe or Baby would probably grind him into a grease spot on the floor. Tony Allen is way too athletic for him. LA will work on him for now, probably lock him in the weight room, and if he doesn't level up they can just walk away at the end of his deal and it's no big loss.
