  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Basically, I expect them to get more for Smith, if he's even on the market.

I'm sure they'll look to move him. He's gone in 2 months anyway. Might as well try to get something back, even if it is just $ or a second rounder.

I agree that they could do better. At the deadline though, they might be willing to go for the cash.

They are going to get something for him, its cap relief pure and simple, otherwise we'd be reading about it.

Message to the wizards:

Caron Butler, Etan Thomas

for

Raef Lafrentz, Sergio Rodriguez, Travis Outlaw

Two good young players, one of which is a huge improvement (Sergio over Mike James), and a viable insurance policy against Gilbert. Plus you save a bunch of money next season, and Portland finally gets a really really good team player at the 3

I have a feeling Amara would be dealt.

Phoenix was in Detroit last night, and the local press asked Amare if he'd welcome a trade to Detroit. Not much of substance here, of course; Amare's just being politic:

Still, I think Detroit and Phoenix match up as good trade partners. Detroit can offer Rasheed's big expiring contract, an upcoming first rounder, and a young player (Amir Johnson, perhaps).

Wow, really?  You think much more of Sergio and Outlaw than I do.  Now, if you include Fernandez, then perhaps I consider it.

I think Butler is one of the best SF in the game, and he needs to get value like that.

Or let me put it another way.  Would you have taken that deal for Paul Pierce a couple years ago?

Two perennial bench players and RL expiring contract is everything Caron Butler lands you these days? I refuse to believe that's the case. The Wizards shouldn't deal Caron anyway, he's under a good contract.

Now THAT makes more sense.  If they are going to deal one of their big guns away, it should be either Jamison or Arenas.  Butler is the type of guy you can build around.

I predict the C's will make a trade that will make 90% of the people on here say "huh??".  It will be for someone no one has really thought of, but he ends up coming in and being a crucial part of the team.

Neh, he's coming in the offseason.

Just to throw out a few names of big men who could be looked at in a trade, or potentially bought out: Jason Collins, Jarron Collins, Stromile Swift, Nesterovic, Brian Skinner, Elson.

Am I the only one who thinks Sean Williams could be had? He's New Jersey's 4th Power Forward. Or are people too afraid that there's a good reason he's dropped out of Frank's favor?

Didn't that already happen?
