Surprising. Davis was one of the few healthy bigs the Clips have, and Jones was playing well for them on his current 10-day contract until he sprained his ankle last night. Perhaps they'll bring him back once he gets healthy again.

Davis is someone who might be able to help us. I'd like to see Danny promote Sam to full-time coach, and bring in Davis on a short-term contract to see what he's about. If he's not worth keeping, no big loss.

Edit: Clips acquired Cheikh Samb from the Nugs today, making Davis expendable, I suppose. Samb is still way raw, and nowhere close to cracking a pro club roster.

Is Jones an upgrade over Allen? Isn't Davis more a Matt Bullard type big man than a defender and rebounder?

Jones wouldn't be a bad player to bring in if they trade Allen.  Otherwise, I don't see him as a good fit.

No, Davis is a legit big, not a perimeter player. He's not done much in the league to date, but that may be because he's been with a lousy franchise. Admittedly, his ceiling is probably not much higher than Dwayne Jones'.

I don't think Jones is an upgrade over Allen. A cheap replacement, perhaps, if TA is dealt.

Agreed. I don't think Paul Davis has any place on this team, we're not that desperate, yet.

Talk about [dang]ing with faint praise.  I believe Jones is a FA as well.

Neither of these are the kind of quality players we need to contribute to winning banner 18. Not interested.

I thought that too, at first. But the Samb trade returns their roster size to -1, and we all know that Sterling is a cheapskate. He probably simply wanted to avoid paying Jones guaranteed money for the rest of the year.

Still, the Camby rumors give one pause. Perhaps there's something else on the horizon.

Paul Davis is a serviceable third string center ... but I think the C's can do better.

He's certainly not capable of beating out Glen Davis for minutes.

no.  Unlike Gerald, he actually still has a chance to develop into a useful player.

I didnt say he would either haha...just that he still had a chance (and thus that Gerald didnt)
