Two Headlines:

Magic's Pietrus sidelined with broken wrist
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090101/SPORTS0102/901010380/1127

Orlando looking for guard http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20081206/SPORTS16/812060332/1002/SPORTS

Hey we can fill both of their needs. We send Gabe, Tony, Big Baby and Scals to Orlando and receive Tony Battie and JJ Redick in return. Gabe gives them a backup pg and Tony replaces Pietrus. Now I don't like trading to the competition, but our trading partners are limited.

I'd only do this trade if we knew Marbury was a lock.

Starters

Rondo
Ray
Paul
KG
Perk

Bench

Stephon
Eddie
Walker
Powe
Battie

Redick and POB finishing out our bench.

I don't hate it. I like Battie when he used to be on the celtics and who knows, maybe JJ could even give them a little scoring off the bench. I think I'd do it, keep in mind, I not much of a fan of any of the players your sennd there.
That being said, I don't really think Orlando makes this trade.

I think you said the key. It's our junk for their junk, but it helps both teams.

there's no way these two teams make a trade. They are both contenders and wouldn't want to help each other out.

Danny has been known to help the competition before.

There is no way Orlando make this trade. They value Tony Battie very highly.

Battie looked as good as he has in years the game against the C's.  He was really going after the ball hard.

Love it, but I am not sure they would give up Battie.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

Are we talking Antoine or Bill Walker?
Either way, I can't see Orlando helping us in any way even if it helps them.

Battie is the guy that allows them to compete with teams like Detroit, Boston and Cleveland. In a way they could not do last year, and the Magic know that. They were salivating at the thought of his return, knowing full well what it would mean for their roster.

like others have said, ORL is very thin in the frontcourt already....i don't think they will be giving up Battie and i think JJ will start playing more too...

also, is ORL gonna help out the team they are trying to dethrone?

always have liked Battie, though...

I am not very good in creating trade ideas, but i was just thinking that the Magic could have some of the players we could need to boost out bench.

How about this idea with Orlando:

Boston trades Pruitt, Tony and Davis
Orlando trades A.Johnson, JJ Redick and Gortat

Why for Boston:

We get a vet PG that can create his shot, a shooter and a big with upside that can contribute with defense and length.

Why for Orlando:

They get a promising PG in Pruitt, a replacement to Pietrus in the wing in Allen, and a big in Davis.

Thoughts?
