Most people are pining for a veteran big man with length PJ Brown, Joe Smith, Mourning, Mutombo ect however what if most if not all of these guys being mentioned recently we can't get.   Would anyone be interested on taking a flier on Pollard again?   If his ankles are healthy I would feel much safer with him at this point in time than POB.   He's always been on a winning team, plays solid D, and can rebound.  If he remained healthy last year we might not have even pursued  PJ Brown.  Just a thought that crossed my mind.

I am pretty sure that if Pollard were interested and healthy enough, his agent would be scheduling workouts for him which we would hear about through the news media. Dont get me wrong, I liked the Pollard signing last year because if he stayed healthy he was a decent contributor for the all reasons you mentioned. He just isnt healthy or he would be in the league IMO. 8)

why don't we sign him, then he has all season to get in shape. and then he can play in the playoffs.

I think Pollard would be a decent pickup if we are unsuccessful in getting Joe Smith, Mutombo, Mourning or PJ Brown. He should be fresh/somewhat healthy as he hasn't played for awhile. He would give us good size/length, solid interior defense and experience; plus he already knows the system and the players so it will only be a matter of him getting into basketball shape. We would need him for only 6-8 minutes a night. If he's healthy then I think he would help us, but there's no rush in picking him up as better options might be available.

how about picking up Pollard for a stretch just so we have a little reinforcement in the post?

Not exactly a world beater, but he's a big body (6'10" or 6'11"), he knows the Celtics defensive schemes, he can play some D on the blocks and rebound, good enough for 8-10 minutes or so a game.

Is he healthy? He hasn't latched on with any team. They thought enough of him to bring him in last year at the beginning, and probably would have played more if not for the injuries.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I have been thinking about this one too, might be worth it just to take a chance. Maybe the C's are too concerned about last years injury plagued season. At the very least we would get more episodes of Planet Pollard.
