I am thinking Blatche is almost too easy. It's starting to bother me. Especially since people pick him at the stroke of 12 am and I am almost always asleep due to time difference. Just saying...

Yup, hence my wanting to consider a rule change for next year.  It's like waiting in line to take candy from a baby but always having the lowest ticket in the "Now Serving" list.

I'm not picking Blatche anymore, or picking at midnight ... this is a game, and I'm not about to instigate hard feelings over it ... too many friends on this list ... and I'm paying my TP's to everyone else from now on.

It's a flaw in the rules, that's all.  Taking advantage of it is your prerogative, but as you said it's more of a friendly competition.

Well, my thing is how will the rules change? In my opinion, I'd leave it like it is.

Sure some folks may have a "Perceived" advantage of picking at midnight, but that is a sacrifice they chose to make. I could pick then as well, but I chose to sleep most of the time by then or I am doing schoolwork.

If the picking times are changed, then that would affect a different block of folks.

I know that for me it's no hard feelings. Most of us who play get a few extra TPs just from that fact that we are almost family here.

I'll support whatever changes come about (if any), though.

Just my take.

All right.  I think I came up with a solution that seems fair enough, doesn't take away the picking at midnight advantage, and should be easy enough to keep track of.

IF YOU ARE THE WINNER ON ANY GIVEN DAY, YOU MAY NOT PICK THE SAME PLAYER AGAIN FOR A PERIOD OF 7 DAYS

This covers the flaw, but will let you pick the guy again as soon as a week is up.  It still lets you pick at the crack of midnight as a strategy, and it's way much easier to keep track of just guys who won (as opposed to another rule change I was considering where you couldn't pick ANY player twice in a week - which would be a nightmare to police).

This also means you could pick a guy like Blatche and if he happens to NOT win that night, you could pick him again the next game.  In my case this rule wouldn't make a [dang] bit of difference since I never win anyhow  ;D.

And Bahku, I want it to be clear from my end, that I don't think you were cheating.  You were playing by the rules, it's just that the rules suck for that scenario.

I do think we should enact this rule immediately though, since it will not make a huge difference, and it will solve the problem that has clearly been bugging some of us.

Thoughts?

I really don't think the picking time is that much of an advantage if we eliminate the option of picking the guy with a clear shot at winning every night.

That's cool, Redz.

Now we just have to get the word out.

Hey B, I hope you know this was not directed at you in particular. It was not! Like I said, "just saying" :-) It is still just a (fun) game.  The time difference is also a problem as far as being able to watch the games. That is the bad part about being European ;-) I am sure that no one is feeling that people cheat or whatever by picking certain players. I mean, if I knew the Lotto numbers I would be a fool not to go with them :-)
