ESPN is reporting that the Bobcats are interested in free agent forward Antonio McDyess.

Well, I guess if you're Charlotte it's worth a try, but seriously, why would he ever choose the Bobcats?

hahahaha. Baby steps, baby steps.

I'm sure they're just figuring out what a PF is.

Haha!  They could use him of course but he wouldn't go there obviously... but that team needs to develop young guys and lose games so they can get a legit stud to build around.  They have had a lot of high picks that have sucked or underachieved.  And even Okafor is somewhat of a dissappointment.  He's solid, but he's more Kendrick Perkins than Dwight Howard.

I thought Okafor was going to be much more dynamic than he is.  He's not a great athlete.

ya because he was one of the best shot blockers ive ever seen at Uconn

I just looked at his numbers and they are better than i thought, but you are right,,dynamic is a good word for it....he definitly is not as dynamic as i predicted he'd be

Larry Brown (and, less important, the starting spot). The Bobcats are probably the team with the best chance of signing him besides Detroit. If they're being delusional, what about the other teams who contacted him, like the C's?

Anyway, as long as he doesn't sign with the Cavs, he can go anywhere. Almost surely that will be Detroit.

Good luck to them. They wont get him but it's nice to see teams at least trying to make moves to improve themselves.

I don't think the "michael jordan effect" exists any longer.  Too bad for them.

He can say he's not a "ring chaser" all he wants, but McDyess is not going to go to the lowly Bobcats just because he likes the coach and he'll get to start. At this point in his career, I'm sure he'll take a chance to win a ring and still play major minutes off the bench over the Charlotte Bobcats. The best chance to sign him besides the Pistons? No way.

If they're being delusional, what about the other teams who contacted him, like the C's?

Obviously I wasn't being serious that they're delusional. But you can't see the difference between a team like the Bobcats and a team like the Celtics?

They are just trying to curb the Bobcatblog forum posts about how Jordan is an idiot for not signing McDyess.

Why not, they might as well try. A few years ago when the C's were terrible, they were still looking to sign free agents that would help them win games, you gotta start somewhere.

Why delusional?  The Bobcats can pay him four or five times as much as the Celtics, because the Bobcats have cap space.  Whether it's a good move for the Bobcats is a separate issue.

A better move is probably the one they're discussing with NJ, to trade Gerald Wallace for froncourt help.  The Nets have Stromile Swift plus some young big men.

Again, the "delusional" line was probably more of an attention getter than anything else. PLEASE don't take it literally. I still don't think they have any chance of landing McDyess, though, no matter what they can afford to pay him.
