Who will have a better season? Greg Oden or Robert Swift?

Holy crap Robert Swift has been getting playing time!

Just to recap... this is technically Robert Swift's 5th season... and yet he still hasn't even played 82 games.  He's got 74 total on record. 

04-05: 16 games as a rookie
05-06: 47 games
06-07: 0 Games.  Out with Injury
07-08: 8 Games.  Out with injury.

Now he's a 22 year old 7-1 270 pound beast on a mission.  His first 3 games:

Game 1:  2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block in 8 minutes
Game 2:  9 points, 7 rebounds, in 13 minutes
Game 3:  3 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks in 18 minutes.

WOW!  He's averaging 4.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1 block with 62% shooting in 13 minutes!!  BEAST!!

Compare this with Greg Oden.

06-07:  Missed half his college season with hand injury
07-08:  0 Games as a rookie.  Out with injury

Now he's a 20 year old 7 foot 285 pound beast on a mission.  His first 2 games:

Game 1: 0 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block in 13 minutes
Game 2: 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks in 16 minutes

Season averages:  1.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks on 14% shooting in 14.5 minutes.

So gentlemen, place your bets.  Who will have the better season?  Who will get injured first?  Whose the beast of the future?  Choose wisely.

my money is on Swift.  He's got brilliant footwork.   And he's already got a game on Oden.   Long term I go with Oden.  This year... Swift, baby.

This isn't based on anything but my gut but I think he's about to turn the corner and stay healthy for a stretch.

(This could very well comeback to bite me in the butt... )

I'm going with Oden.  But I still think Swift will be a very good center in this league.  I think he gained way too much muscle weight too quick, and it really messed with him physically, but now that he has slimmed back down a bit, I think he will get back on track.  Now how long will it take Oden to realize the same thing?

Seriously I think Oden has more Bill Walton potential than Bowie.

Most people forget that Swift was showing A LOT of promise before he went down with that knee injury.

So I think Im gonna go with Swift, nothing against Oden, but theres just something about that whole one legs longer than the other thing that makes me think his career will never really get off the ground.

Well I watched the Portland game and Oden looked pretty freakin good.  That guy definitely impacts the game in a HUGE way on defense.  He had a late block that was ridiculous.  He definitely intimidates people from going inside. 

Tonight's results:

Oden:  11 points (3-3), 11 rebounds, 4 blocks in 24 minutes

Swift:  4 points (2-5), 13 rebounds, 2 blocks in 27 minutes


Can Swift keep up?  Only time will tell.
