Personally I liked Pierce(heh) Brosnan more than any other Bond or actor generally. He's my favorite actor and he fits like a glove for that Bond role.
Daniel Craig and the Bond's series he acts in are simply unwatchable.

see, im exactly the other way. Pierce was good, but craig is excellent in the role.

I think it also depends on if your more a fan of "Book bond" or "movie bond"

Book bond is a killer, and thier's very few of the funny gadgets or funny quips made popular by connery in the movie version. Now, i loved sean's take on the role and the style, but book bond is a whole diffrent animal. Flemming's bond was (as craig in casino was) a stone cold killer, who had little time for funny quips and games. Yes, the supervillans were still comicaly outrageous, but bonds methods we're much more "kill quickly, and brutaly in prusit of the mission"

Movie Bond- Defined by the immortal sean connery, movie bond is also a great secret agent, but is more about style than substance, gadgets than force. I love this version of bond as well, but for me, as a huge fan of the books it was nice to see them give the role to a "well, your a dead man" version of the character.

I like both versions alot, but I had no problem with a nod to the "classic" bond that was casino's no-nonsense 007.

I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond, so I guess I'll always see him as Bond - though I understand the diehard Connery fans.

That said, I loved the last Bond movie with Daniel Craig.  It was just different than the polished Bond we're used to (in the Pierce Brosnan mold).

I'm looking forward to the new one.

I can't wait for Quantum of Solace. The first Bond movie I saw was brosnan, but I watched some of the older films with Roger Moore and thought he was the best Bond. And all that changed when Casino Royale came out. Daniel Craig has taken Bond to a new level, an edgier and more innovative Bond. I think that he will end up being known for James Bond as he should be.

What happened to Sean Connery? Guess I'm showing my age, but there will never be a better bond.

Sean Connery was easily the best Bond. Heck he's easily the best actor to have ever played Bond. I hated Timothy Dalton. George Lazenby was a weenie as Bond. Roger Moore was okay but way to much of a playboy and way to little of a spy. Pierce Brosnan was Roger Moore with darker hair and a bit more attitude. Daniel Craig as the young, inexperienced, loose cannon, lethal killer Bond was well done and allows Craig to reprise and recreate the role while growing the character. I thought it an excellent beginning and renewal.

At first I was very nervous of Craig, but I think he played the part excellently.  He wasn't supposed to be as suave as the Bond that Pierce played.

I think he plays the part very well.

now, who is the best?  well thats tough.  I think probably Connery, although I really dont have a problem with any of them (except Timothy Dalton)

  • The good ole days.
Pierce was awesome.

The newer Bonds take place well before the Pierce era, and I think Craig is a perfect fit as a young rogue James Bond.

The first Bond movie I ever saw was Casino Royale. It was one of the best action films I had ever seen. It inspired me to watch Dr. No and From Russia with Love within the last 2 weeks. And although I respect Sean Connery as Bond, he seems to be kind of a nitwit. He's always getting fooled although he does come out on top in the end. Reminds me of a serious Get Smart or Inspector Gadget. :-\

For me I didn't much care for the new bond.  There are enough action movies out there.  The playboy-charming bond was more entertaining.  I may have liked this new film more if it wasn't James Bond, just some different character.  The fact that they took this famous character and "reinvented" him in the cinema as more violent and darker is the same thing hollywood has been doing for years instead of having original ideas.

Crownsy - I haven't read the books so I don't know about all that.  But I think you can make the argument James Bond in cinema exists autonomously from James Bond in writing, so that's what I'm going with above.

Having said that, I Don't think the films have been "good" since the first few Connery ones.  They just got more and more ridiculous since then.

Trivia question, TP if you know the answer.

Where was James Bond born?  8)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
