Today was my seat relo day. As usual, the site crashed when I tried to hit it, but I got in a few minutes after it started.

They weren't kidding when they said that there is limited inventory. I counted fewer than 20 seats available in the loge section.

Best seats available? Section 11, Row A (front row of the folding chairs), seats 1,2 (all the way by the endline). A mere $39,000+ per ticket.

I always like to window shop and dream.  So if I wanted to buy that, that would be $39k * 43 games * 2 tickets = $3,354,000 for the season (not including playoffs).  At that point, I'd just buy my own box (which seats ~20 and gets you into all the TD Garden events: Bruins, concerts, etc.).

~20 years ago was gifted front row, baseline seats to the Mavs (when they were a 60 win team), face value was $800, a mere $68,800 for 2 seats for the season.

Inflation is hurting the rich too  :P

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Wait, it’s 39k per game per ticket?  I thought that would be $39k for the season per ticket.

I guess we need Mef to clarify if I'm an idiot or not.  $39k for the season seems like a pretty good deal to me for front row seats.  If I was younger, I might be tempted to buy it just to try my hand at reselling.

Glad to know a court side seat in the corner is only downpayment on a condo level expensive instead of outright purchasing a multi-unit property in a nice neighborhood expensive.

STMers would be taking an absolute bath in the resale market if it was 39K a game.

Let's call it $950 per ticket, because nobody cares about preseason games.

From what I understand, StubHub charges a 15% seller fee, so you lose $142.50 per ticket.  That means you need to sell for close to $1100 per even to break even.

There aren't a ton of comparable tickets available, but this seems to be in the same general vicinity:

That's "only" $1,005 per ticket, so if the face value is comparable, the seller isn't making a profit.  I'm a bit surprised.

Couple things to consider, there is probably an increase on those seats, 15-25% has been average across the board. So assuming that the person selling is probably closer to $750 per this year, so still set to make a profit if they do sell.

Secondly, the demand for Celtics regular season games right now is down considerably. We've clinched essentially everything, buyers know they are risking seeing a bench game which is driving prices down universally. I would estimate that same OKC game would be looking at 1500-2000 per if it was 2-3 months ago.

Assuming next year is actually competitive in the East resale demand in the regular season will be there. Also if everyones initial costs are up across the board then resale costs will increase with it.

Sorry, $39K for one ticket for the whole season. Just under $1,000 per game. I think it also may vary based on what "cohort" you are in (how long you've been a season ticket holder; 1-5 years, 5-10, 10-15, etc.).

I do a lot of reselling, and I wouldn't touch those with a pole of any length if I wanted to make my money back. Sure, you might get a premium for the Lakers tickets, but you're getting 50% for Detroit on a Tuesday night, and there are a lot more of those games than there are Lakers-quality games.

As of 10 days ago, when I sold my last remaining regular season tickets, this was not true. Average price of tickets on Ticketmaster and online are higher than they were a month or two ago. People kept waiting out hoping the tickets would decline closer to game day and striking out, so people started buying. I adjust my prices every week and they were constantly going up all year.

Perhaps one day
