(I was at game 3 in 86 when that started - too bad the game was over in the 2nd inning)

Darryl Strawberry started for the Mets and was last arrested as a Yankee

So did Dwight Gooden

Willie Mays

Good call on Willie!!

There's two

#3  Yogi Berra also retired a Met after starting with the Yankees

Good one with Berra, didn't have him on the list, probably because he was a player/coach with the Mets. So that brings the total up to 7, with at least 3 still not named.  (See I say least because I knew there would be guys I didn't have on the list like Berra).

TP's for all the right answers so far, and SShorefan 3.0 I would give you more for Berra since he wasn't on my list if I could...

TP for the question.

There is at least one more.  My list of 6 grew to 7 when you added Berra.

So far we have 4 Hall of Famers and 2 well known All Stars.
The last guy on my list is neither.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

In 1910 in his first year in baseball,Dutch Zwilling batted .194 for the White Sox.
In 1916 in his final season Dutch batted .113 for the Cubs

Thus the list:

Dutch Zwilling (Chicago)
Babe Ruth (Boston)
Willie Mayes (NY)
Yogi Berra (NY)
Dwight Gooden (NY)
Darryl Strawberry (NY)
Henry Aaron (Milwaukee)

Dutch Zwilling?  :o ??? You must have been really diggin for that one.  Alas, I knew there were others (I wouldn't be surprised if there were more still).  So there is at least 8 now because there is one more you haven't gotten yet.

This other guy, while not a HOF or an All Star, was in the news in 2006, but not for something positive.

Do you mean that the last time he was arrested he was a Yankee, or that he was the last Yankee to be arrested? If so, I know Joba Chamberlain got a DUI just recently.

Also, the late Cory Lidle came up with the Mets and finished with the Yankees, tragically.

Would Lidle be the last one you were looking for?

(I was saying he was Yankee last time he was arrested)

Rollie Zeider came up the same year with the Cubs, and finished with the White Sox, too.

Lidle was the last one I had on the list.

Thanks to Roy we have another one to add to the list now too in Rollie Zeider.

So there is at least 9 players who share this distinction.  There could be more, I'm just not aware of them.

TP's all around, and thanks for playing.

Zeider and Zwilling up the same year with different Chi town teams and end the same year with the other Chi town teams.  Only 82 players in the history of baseball with a last name that begins with Z and two of them are answers to this question in the same time span and in the same city.  Interesting to most likely only me, but interesting none the less.
