Maybe Oden wouldn't have injured if he had played in Boston, who knows?  ::)

The truth is, i am very happy the way things worked out for us later ;)

Oh I don't know.  Oden, Jefferson, Pierce, Rondo, Perkins, and very likely Gasol doesn't seem that bad even with Oden's injury problems.  certainly would have given the C's a much longer window

Pierce wouldnt be here. He quietly told danny that if it was rebuilding time (which using the draft pick would have signaled) that he wanted to be traded.

also, its not like oden has had one freak injury.

in HS, he got dinged up often according to reports.

then at ohio st, BAM, wrist

then the knee

now the foot.

hsi total play time in the last 3 years is 30 NCAA games and 12 minutes of NBA basketball. how would that have incresed our window so far?

So far, Oden= Yao light. all the injury problems of yao and half the offense.

If you draft Oden and then trade Ratliff and some picks for Gasol, are you really rebuilding?
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'll take Perk over Oden anyday.

i love perk, but i would take oden in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't, I'd take "Servicable Center from the 1980's" over Sam Bowie.

Forget the injury - he just looks like an old man out there. I don't see how he can be penciled in as some future MVP at this point..

As an OSU fan I can tell you that Oden is unbelievably athletic for someone his size, but he is incredibly fragile.  Guy would easily be MVP if he could stay healthy.  He is a defensive force and has good skills around the hoop.  That being said, I don't think he will ever be able to stay healthy.

Greg Oden is out again for 2-4 weeks. That just makes me more and more thankful that we did not take him. He may never reach his "full potential."

Bummer for Oden and the Portland fans.

I think the jury is still out on Oden, though.  I am not ready to chalk him up to "bust" just yet.  Remember there were many many people on this blog who thought Al Jefferson was a bust with "ankles made of glass".  Now he is an All Star.  Give Oden time....
Celtics fan for life.

i never claimed oden's career was over but the guy has never been healthy- like ever. he's been injury prone since his hs days.

Become Legendary.

I'd take Perk over a guy whose played 15 minutes, I don't see how that's an overreaction.
