  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
Today in the second quarter, Ray Allen tied the Celtics record (Larry Bird) with 71 consecutive free throws made

EDIT:  72 and counting.  The record belongs to Ray.

  • The good ole days.
Man, I am really dropping the ball on this one.... updated!

Some milestones have been reached since last updated... some already mentioned:

Ray Allen - 19,000 points; 4,000 rebounds; 2,250 3PT FGs made
Paul Pierce - 18,000 points
Rajon Rondo - 2,000 points; 1,000 assists

To look forward to:

Paul Pierce needs only 8 more rebounds for 5,000 career.  He will become only the 23rd player all time with at least 18,000 points; 5,000 rebounds; and 3,000 assists (joining KG)... and he's got a Finals MVP.... *cough* Hall of Fame *cough*.

Pierce also is exactly 100 points away from becoming the Celtic's 3rd All Time Leading Scorer, passing Robert Parish (18,245).

Ray Allen is 4 assists away from his career 4,000th.  He will become the 21st player all time with at least 19,000 points; 4,000 rebounds; and 4,000 assists.  He will also retire as possibly the most prolific 3 point shooter ever.  *cough* Hall of Fame *cough*

tomorrow against detroit Paul will get 7 rebounds, and Ray will get 3 assists, it alsays seems to work that way.

If all goes well, Paul Pierce will pass
Robert Parish for 3rd place on the Celtics'
all-time scoring list today. PP needs 13 more
points before he can call himself a top
three all-time Celtic scorer. GO TRUTH!

For what it's worth, Paul had 16 points
vs. Orlando and is now #3 all-time.
Congrats, PP!

I wish the milestone had come on any night other than last night.  Paul looked unfocused, and the team played terribly outside of Powe and Ray.  I'm sure Paul would have enjoyed the moment more if it came in a win, or at least in a game where he played well.

Yeah, it was a disappointing way to do it.

A few other all-time NBA milestones coming up:

Paul Pierce is currently 56th on the all time NBA scoring list (not including ABA numbers). He needs 64 to pass Dave Bing, 73 to pass Glen Rice (both should happen in 3-4 games), 101 to pass Dr. J's NBA tally (4-5 games), 132 to pass Rick Barry's NBA tally (6-7 games), 175 to pass Dolph Schayes (8-9 games) and 195 to pass Mark Aguirre and enter the top 50 on the All Time NBA Points list.

Ray Allen is currently 38th all time and needs 29 points to pass Terry Cummings, 90 to pass Walter Davis, 160 to pass Clifford Robinson (never would've guessed he's 35th all time), 224 to pass Bernard King and 280 to pass John Stockton. If he pulls all those off, as he should if he plays all remaining games and averages 16.5, he'll end the season 33rd on the All Time NBA Points list.

For those interested, KG is actually 26th, and was on his way of moving into the top 25 before his injury. He's 345 points behind Hal Greer, which will probably take him about 20-21 games to reach, meaning it'll be early next year. He's only 550 behind Larry Legend, whom KG will also likely pass next year.

KG is also 22nd in career rebounds, and needs 238 to pass Kevin Willis and 291 to pass Dennis Rodman and move into the top 20. But that's won't be till next year. He's 336 away from becoming the 20th player ever to get 12,000 rebounds and only the 10th with 21,000 points and 12,000 rebounds, joining elite company of Wilt, Kareem, Elvin Hayes, Moses, Karl Malone, Parish, Olajuwon, Barkley and Shaq. Of those guys, only Wilt, Kareem and Barkley also have 4000 assists. Of those three, only Wilt and Kareem also have 1000 steals and blocks.

KG is 22nd all time in blocked shots, and needs 4 to pass Moses and 19 to pass Artis Gilmore for top 20.
Go Celtics.
