I was too young to remember when it happened (wasn't exactly following the NBA then) but wow, I never knew about this.

Obviously the pushing and shoving was between KJ and Rivers but Ainge got his hands on Starks during the melee.

Wow.

Man, the good old days when fights were allowed. Seriously, as great as last year was, there is no topping the NBA from the 1980s and early 90s.

Here is a NYT article about the fight:

Note to anyone viewing, there were 2 altercations the best one starts at 3:50.

It's  crazy what used to go down in the nba.

Doc was p---ed after Kj tackled him.

Good thing Barkley was there, cause Coach was looking to kick some ass.

What is more intimidating, Dan Majerle's nuclear tan or Anthony Mason's hugeness?

I think the camera didn't catch the original punch and that was the melee that occured after. Pretty funny video, Doc being a badass and the commentators were more biased that Tommy.

Doc Rivers was wild back then! He sprinted at Kevin Johnson.

I had forgotten how much I liked the phoenix team with Ainge, Thunder Dan, KJ, Barkley

I never have forgotten how much I despised Doc as a player - it amuses me

What I remember, besides how much I liked the whole Phoenix Suns team, is how good a player Tom Chambers was, and how Patrick Ewing wasnt that effective against the West Coast teams that ran the floor.

Riley was running a banger half court game that suited Patrick Ewing and Anthony Mason. It also utilized the outside shooting of Starks and Rivers off of double teams inside. They were known as 'thugs' at the time, because of the rough tactics employed.

This was Pat Riley again playing to his teams' strengths. 8)

Scariest NBA player ever.
