I don't think Ainge necessarily wants another banger.  If a banger is all he wants, what's wrong with the 290 lb Glenn Davis?

Portland has a number of other potentially useful players, big and small, e.g. Joel Przybilla and Steve Blake.

I'd also be looking in the direction of Oklahoma City for a player like Joe Smith or Nick Collison.

My guess is that Ainge will not be particularly interested in trading with a team like NJ within the same division.  Letting Pruitt go to a team like that could make him look very bad in a year or two.

I think he wants a taller banger that can keep a hand in the faces of opposing C's.   Perk is the only banger they have on the team that can do that (KG is not a banger, just a really great defender)

And Pruitt is not the type of guy you stop a trade over just because the team is in the same division.

Here is the trade that would work,
But I am not sure ATL would do it , even with Scals expiring contract. Maybe a second rounder to go with it. This guy is a banger.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Atlanta and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Atlanta and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Zaza is one of the biggest bargains in the NBA (right there with Perk), and he is basically Atlanta's only "true" center.  There is no way they trade him for a package like that unfortunately.

I do like the "other" Brick's idea of Portland wanting to scoop Miles as a liability...

Pryzbilla anyone?  They're already stacked at PF/C with Oden/Aldridge/Diogu/Fyre/Randolph/LaFrentz...
God bless and good night!

I didn't think he did either - but this is what the chatter is about.  Perhaps Perk's injury is worse than we know...

Scal + Perk for Eddy Curry works.  :P

That's so wrong on so many levels...not even going to go there.  I hope that was a joke.
God bless and good night!

i like the idea of boston and portland doing a deal...

portland might be willing to do this if they can convince danny to cut miles and therefore remove him from their cap...would make for an intriguing conversation between danny and kevin pritchard.  if they say no, ainge screws them and hangs onto miles out of spite :)

He is not a banger, he is just tall.

This works.  It is not pretty.

Here is a much better trade, though very unlikely.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=3200~3227~2990&teams=17~17~2&te=&cash=

Wrong Collins. If they made a move it would be the other collins.

I believe the other Collins is out for the 1st half of the year.

They both are terrible on offense.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

First, the point of the trade was not to cut anyone. If we already know we'll cut Miles, there is no need to trade, we're down to 15 bodies already.

Second, if we cut Miles, there's nothing stopping another team from signing and playing him. And it's going to be much easier for him to find the necessary playing time in places other than Boston.

All in all, this thread is slightly ridiculous, and is based on baseless speculation, which happened to happen on CSN so that everyone could see it. There is no imminent trade on the horizon. I am not even sure there is a possible trade on the horizon. Of course, the Cs will be happy to unload their garbage to someone for a serviceable player, but there is a reason why trades like that don't happen.
