Sorry, that was NOT an offensive pass interference on Jericho Cotchery. Delta O'Neal fell down.

Patriots got the call there.

Looks like all that "Passing of the torch in the AFC East" talk has proven to be a bit premature for now.  (Although, early on Buffalo seems to be doing well for themselves).

Pats pull out the W in the Meadowlands.

Good wins for the Pats.  The D looks very solid.

Good wins for the Pats.  The D looks very solid.

D impressed me a lot.  Especially in the 2nd half.  Front 7 got a bunch of pressure on Favre and this was against the much improved offensive line of the Jets.  Favre also made one of his vintage bad Favre plays with that Meriweather interception.

Before getting all gushy about the Patriots defense and how they have played, let's remember that the Pats haven't exactly played any offensive juggernaunts. KC has only bad quarterbacks and mediocre wide receivers and their o-line isn't what it used to be. The Jets also have fairly mediocre WRs and their RBs aren't that good and their QB is 150 years old and a chance taking gunslinger who still doesn't have a good hand on the offense.

But, after saying all that, the defense has been stellar except for some occasional bad backfield play that has led to some long passing gains. The front three are as healthy and playing as well together as I have ever seen. Mayo might become the best defensive rookie in the AFC. Thomas is playing some physical ball, Bruschi and Vrabel have been their solid selves and Pierre Woods has really shown something. And the backfield is good enough to get by and young enough to get possibly a bunch better with time together.

And typical Belichick he has turned the offense into the offense we saw in 2001 when Brady took over. Simple stuff, smashmouth when ahead, and just let Cassel manage the game and hope eventually he might get the experience to even win you a game or two when needed.

I like what I saw today and with the easy schedule I hope that this is what we see until Cassel has the confidence to be able to do more.

Pats 21- Jets 7

Lets Go Pats!

Off by 5 points.

I knew i should've given the jets the extra 3.

That last sack to Brett Favre was satisfying.

Pats get a touchdown and 4 field goals tomorrow en route to a 19-17 win.

What is wrong with me?  I was actually kinda pulling for the Jets to score a TD at the end so that my prediction would be exact!

Very solid win for the Pats.  I guess it's easy to forget too that the Jets, for all of their new Favre-tasticness, were a 4-12 team last year.

Mop up the Phins next weekend and we're 3-0 to start the season.  Biz as usual
Yup

I didn't get a chance to post here.........

I predict a Pats win on the road to bring them to 2-0 going into the game against Miami.

While I am at, I predict a wild one in the Denver San Diego match up and some bad coaching by Romeo will cost Cleveland a shot at winning against the Steelers.

Just going with my gut.

Sorry, that was NOT an offensive pass interference on Jericho Cotchery. Delta O'Neal fell down.

Patriots got the call there.

ok budy

Phil Simms said Jericho pushed off with his left arm....on replay it clearly shows that Jericho was actually HOLDING O'Neal upward as O'Neal was on 1 knee and proceeding to fall down.

There was no extension of the left arm by Jericho.

I also disagree with Simms, when he states that "in real time, you get a better feel"....in real time what you really get is "perception", not actualization.

To the Judge, it seemed to him that the play was an OPI, but both players have a right to stop and turnaround for an under-thrown ball. The key here is that Delta O'Neal turned around and went down on one knee and couldn't make a valid play on the ball as he was falling downward...which gave Cotchery a wide open window to catch the throw.

If a defensive back is able to get away with touching the receiver before the ball reaches the player, then it should be the same way vice versa.

Replay is more of a clear representation of what actually happened.
