One of the things I loved about the Pats during their recent history is that they always seemed to win the games that they were set up to lose.  When the chips were down, they rallied.  As much as I might sound like a spoiled brat saying it, last year was boring because of its lack of hardships (until the bitter end that is).

I am as excited and curious about a regular season game as I've been in a long time.  I really would like to see the Pats pull together and show that they can still compete and win without Brady.  It's really a tremendous opportunity for the team.

Pats get a touchdown and 4 field goals tomorrow en route to a 19-17 win.
Yup

The fact that the spread on this game is only a point and a half shows a tremendous amount of deference by the odds-makers to Belichick in my eyes - and maybe deservedly so.  As you say, Redz, one of the most amazing thing about the Pats' run this decade has been the pull-it-out-of-a-hat quality of some of the victories.  I'm looking forward to seeing how well-prepared this team is - particularly against a team and coach to whom Bill can't stand losing.

And yet, with all that said....Gaaaaaaaaaang Green it is!

I personally hink that the Pats are going to go into New Jersey and crush the Jets. Then all the haters out there are going to realize the Pats are still for real! Pats win 34-17

The Jets didn't even look that good against the lowly fins.  Favre just through whatever to the end zone and got lucky it wasn't INT'd.  I like to see him pull the stuff he did against Miami, against a real defense.

Worked well enough for Eli Manning in the Super Bowl >:(   As time goes further by I get more and more sold on my theory that while the Giants played a great game and certainly were worthy of winning the game, Eli Manning is the most overrated hero in Super Bowl history.  He threw 3 balls that should have been picked.  And no I'm not the type who dwells on losing the Super Bowl, this just made me think of it.

Anyhow, yeh, Favre will throw a few picks today (and make some completions he has no business making)
Yup

this one, and all to come, is going to come down to defense. People forget now sometimes, but in 2001, brady was not a "oh WOW!" QB, he was efficent, and didn't make mistakes.

and, he had this behind him

Defense baby :)

p.s i forgot how scary that 2001 defense was

Love how the national media is throwing this team under the bus now.  Just watched Tom Jackson, Ditka, and Chris Carter basically say the Pats are done.  I hated how ESPN handled last year and so far, this year hasn't been any different.

Nice to be back in the underdog role again.  It's been a while.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Before the Patriots were blowing teams out last year, they were winning championships. The mantra that the team held during the years? we are the underdog, no one thinks we can do this. Now everyone is giving the Patriots the no respect card and I believe they will thrive. The defense is going to step up and for the rest of the season be one of the top units in the league. We are going to run the ball down team's throats with our 4 quality backs. When teams dare us to throw the ball we still do have Moss, Welker, Watson (not this week) and Faulk to catch passes. Everything will be ok.
Also I predict that O'Connell makes a poor mans Brady beginning of his career once they realize he is better than Cassell. I think the pats final record will be 10-6 while taking home the AFC east crown again.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The Pats might slip out of here with a victory, but it will be UGLY.

Chances are they won't. We're really screwed. A lot of kool aide lovers are underestimating how much we need Brady, and overestimating what the rest of the team is capable of.

Jets would probably win. Favre looked really good last week.
