Just threw together some quick & early 08-09 power rankings.

Check it out here.

* Note: they're based off of the current record projections I have.

Really like and agree with most of the Power Rankings except I would have put Houston much lower and Portland higher. I just have no faith in T-Mac leading that Houston team or Artest being anything more than the derisive, pain in the butt he's been everywhere else he's been. I think Portland will take another big step forward and mostly because I think Oden is the real deal and will easily win ROY and lead Portland to the conference semis.

Now let's just hope Pierce doesn't fall on top of KG's leg with 8 minutes played into the first quarter of opening night ending both their season's with torn ACLs. I could take only so much bad Boston sports news in one year.

My personal opinion is that Cleveland and Detroit will both be somewhat disappointing next year, and Philly seems the most likely candidate to overtake one or the other of them.  The Brand/Dalembert/Iggy frontcourt should be really good and really athletic; Dre's a baller at the point, too.  I'm not sure I'd rank them above Cleveland or Detroit right now, but I won't be shocked in the least if they're better than expected and if Cleveland and/or Detroit lags.

I think you have the Raptors a tad to high, maybe replace them with the 76ers, also Portland ahead of the Raptors too.

Also the Heat are tricky at this point I guess that is a safe place but I wouldn't be surprised one bit that they may move up 8-10 spot.
