I can't believe there's only one vote (me) for TNG. Forget politicians, athletes, and celebrities as role models. Captain Picard is the pinnacle of human morality.  :)

Ouch, I'd like my TP back. As far as ST vs. SW, I submit this:

News Radio Rocked. It's hard for me to be limited to one "best show ever"
As such, I voted for All in the family - as it was a precursor to so much comedy, but also dealt with hard issues fairly regularly.
Other not-so-mainstream shows I liked:

Kids in the Hall
Sports Night
That Seventies Show

ps Nice Art Dark Lord ;) - but have you considered changing your name to Sauron?

For me, hands down it is The Wire.  5 seasons, and every time the last episode of the season I involuntarily spouted "My GOD that show is good...".  I found myself sad when the seasons were over, because the ride was over too.

For those that enjoy the show, you should check out Homicide: Life on the Street.  It's not as gritty as The Wire, and follows only the homicide detectives.

It's like a cross between The Wire and Law and Order, but the writing is just great.  It was on network TV, so it couldn't do what an HBO show can, but still worth looking up.
