The Wire if you don't want to include anything from the "golden age of comedy". I've seen every show on that list besides twin peaks, and the wire is the best television show that's ever been made.

You really need to see this show. No exaggeration. You really need to see it.

I agree with the comments about Seinfeld ans MASH, but I had to include them on the poll as I remember in the thread last year they got a lot of votes.

South Park is great as is Simpsons but I tried to keep it non-animated.

Other - The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I can definitely relate to this, I love Will Smith. But I can't put that on a list of Best TV show's as it's too one dimensional. One of my favs though, no doubt.

What do you mean by one-dimensional? As in, only funny?

haha. That line is one-dimensionally funny.

The only "message" episode of FPOBA (has anyone even had use for that acronym before?) is the one where someone tries to rob carlton and will gets shot.

Hmm. I think this one has a message, too, I guess.

aw yeah that scene got me a little bit. I didn't even watch the rest of it because I remember it well. Yeah there were some emotional episodes, and I agree it wasn't a one dimensional show. I don't think its close be being one of the best of all time. One of the best sitcoms of the 1990's though for sure.

Yeah, I grew up in the 90's so this was the best show, IMO.

TP BigAlTheFuture.

The exact episode/scene I was going to look for when Maestro said the show was one-dimensional.

The Roseanne Show was a funny show, that not only told a story about a portion of America, which a lot of people try not to  identify with...it gave the "Jerry Springer Show" at the time, some relevance and authenticity.

The Wire,  TV written like a great novel--and for those enjoying Generation Kill  most episodes are from the same writers as The Wire.

Best Comedy a short lived unknown show called Frank's Place -- if you ever see it listed check it out, smart well written comedy.  BET carried reruns for a while--I hope they bring it back.
Days up and down they come, like rain on a conga drum, forget most, remember some, don't turn none away.   Townes Van Zandt

Jay Jay, nice shout out to Rosanne. I'd rather watch a nuanced show with heart about working class people than a million short-lived shows about boring young bankers in sweet apartments with no real problems. If only the corporate sponsors agreed. They would rather shows that depict perfect consumers, and when the shows fail they can just be replaced. Better not to get the masses thinking too deeply about their slow strangle.

I agree with you there...Roseanne show gaves some reality with some funny stuff to go alone with it.
