At first I thought this was some media hype around the olympics and international play but now I feel like going to Europe will be a major theme in the NBA for the next 3 years ultil the bargaining agreement is over. These teams in Europe have more power than I thought!

I owuldn't be surprised if KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce went to Europe after their current contracts are over. If Kobe goes to Europe next summer a lot of free agents in 2010 will also flee if money is available.

this is not exactly new news. the article stats everything we already know. it's highly unlikely for an euro team to have that kind of money for their markets but not impossible.

Become Legendary.

"But we cannot say that the European market, at the level we are at right now, is ready to afford this kind of challenge. The fact that one specific owner can take a very exceptional decision and present this kind of offer [to Childress] does not represent the level of our league. [Bryant or James] would be out of our expectation. It's easy to dream, it's nice and it's cheap but it is not realistic."

It takes more than two years
to make Europe "ready".
Football (soccer) is the top
sport in almost every country
in Europe and it would take I
don't know what to change that.
Even IF the money is there.

Yeah but benches in the NBA are going to suffer a lot. Especially when 3-4 players on a team take up 95% of the salary

What ACF said... this is nonsense.
