Rasheed could be the best player in the N.B.A. If he had a mentalaty like Garnett because he is the only player that can play with his back to the basket and shoot from any where on the floor and shoot over any player and is great passing out a double team. Great defense to when he tries!
If Rasheed Wallace didn't stray away from the paint so much he could have had a title in 2005,2006, and 2007
He could have had 4 Titles right now
I for one, agree. Let me go on the record as stating that I am one of Sheed's biggest fans, so you can take this reply with a grain of salt or dismiss it outright as you so please.
Most of this, in my opinion, is the general perception of Sheed's personality. Sheed is by all accounts certifiable. So too is KG, but his general behavior is seen as more "acceptable" because he has a certain aura (see, marketability) about him.
Sheed's excessive desire to win usually manifests itself via incessant unadulterated bickering at the referees. KG's usually yields Tourette's like obscenities at opposing players, teammates, fans, coaches, himself, and/or no one in particular. Because there is seemingly no method to KG's madness (whereas there is a definitive method to Sheed's, and it is not looked too highly upon), you have the difference between a future HOF'er in KG and one of the most tragically underrated players of all time in Rasheed.
Sheed garners a tremendous amount of respect from players around the league. His skillset is unmatched, especially at his size, and his BBIQ is through the roof. Great understanding of the game, great team defender, and a tremendously dangerous shooter and passer. He is the master of the lost art of the midrange post-up game (back to the basket fall away - Dirk is not far behind).
Sheed has learned in recent years to tone down his emotion a bit, but the damage has already been done. His poor rapport with the refs undoubtedly has a tangible adverse effect on his game. Think about how hard it must be to "get in the zone" when mentally, you've been taken out of the game (either by himself or by the refs) and when physically you are out of the game (by having, a lot of the time, unwarranted foul calls against you).
Now, in Sheed's mind, he has never committed a foul in his life, but he does see through the thin veil of "fair officiating" that goes on in the league, and has a very low tolerance for it. Understandably so, at least to this one fan.
It is a sad state of affairs where one man's steadfast integrity and refusal to sacrifice it results in his status as a pariah and being generally viewed in a negative light, both as a player, and a person.
