another legendary black entertainer - I'm of the generation that will remember him as chef, but I do have his shaft theme on vinyl...awesome stuff - he'll be missed

Wow.  Just sold a record of his yesterday at the shop.  On the cover he was, of course, surrounded by a bunch of babes in some sort of human fruit bowl arrangement.
Yup

I had the opportunity to work with Mister Hayes a couple of times. He was incredibly humble, kind hearted and generous.

My favorite story: He told his agent that he wanted to get into voice over work, really wanting to do a "Disney bear, alligator or tiger" and was happy when he got the script for a cartoon called "South Park" After reading the treatment, he was shocked that cartoon characters could say and do the things they were, but "the check cleared" and it ended up turning out well. After losing everything (IRS taxes & bankruptcy), he felt very fortunate to have a second chance and was going to make the most of it.

But what he was most proud of was his work in Africa, supporting famine and educational efforts.

A true gentleman.

Here's a hit off his first album, performed live on what looks like Laugh In.

Nothing against his music career, but I'll remember him as the voice of one of my favorite TV characters ever

What I will remember most about him is his hipocrocy. When South Park was making fun of Catholics, Jews, Moslem, Mormen, rednecks etc. he was along for the ride, and the cash. However, his beloved Scientology is beyond reproach. Please..........

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

That wasn't necessarily his call - many believe that the "Church" of Scientology forced him into that position.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.
