Every single day breaking news here and there, sportscenter, PTI, around the horn, newspapers...And every day the story is the same. This guy does this every year and its just so sick to see the same headline day after day. I dont care about brett farve he isnt going to win a championship next season and hes just going to do this all over again next year. Its the stupidest story in sports history!

I've never really liked Favre, no reason just the guy always seemed to come off a bit smug in interviews to me.

So I'm enjoying this because it's really making Favre look like a first class jerk, which is what I always thought he was.

I like how the ESPN Ticker has its categories go by:

NL  AL  NBA  MLB  NHL MLS  GOLF NFL  FAVRE
It is a really silly story of a guy who doesn't know when to give up.

I don't care much about it, but Green Bay is in many ways the Celtics of the NFL -- there's a lot of interest in the old dynasty team and Brett has been the face of that franchise for a long time.  He did win a Super Bowl and is coming off his best statistical season (or among his best), so he's still a viable player and I can see how the dynamics surrounding the return have been intriguing (though I agree -- a bit much).  

I do recall a bit of press surrounding another returning retiree -- MJ.  Even MJs second comeback dominated the headlines for a while.  It is true that the current state of constant and immediate coverage of any hot topic is at an unprecedented level -- often creating ad nauseum/ overkill coverage (I believe I've heard the name Clark Rockefeller more than 100 times today).

The only reason it seems like so many people care about Brett Farve is because the sports media has made it standard practice to balloon news stories.  It is a vicious cycle... ESPN covers Brett Farve, people are so exposed to it they care, and thus ESPN covers it even more thus spurring more people.

The solution I finally figured out was to not have cable and generally avoid espn.com and si.com.

I dont care about Brett.  I wish he would just stay retired.  Instead he is damaging his legacy.

I am sick of hearing about him every offseason will he or wont he...blah blah.  go away.

I am so sick of hearing about Bret its so annoying he has his own ticker for GOD SAKES!!! I am just sick of it he leads the NFL with the most interceptions almost every year LET AARON PLAY!!!

I give enough of a crap about Brett Favre to dredge this thread back up from the thread netherworld to say that I have just basically lost respect for the guy.

Great quarterback and whatever, but he's jerking people around...

I wonder whether he has a guaranteed contract with Sportscenter: "something to talk about in the off-season: the silver fox and ESPN - the Brett Favre story."
