Al is tenacious offensively,  he's a competitor on both ends of the floor

See, that's not accurate.  Yes, Big Al is excellent offensively.  However, he is certainly not a "competitor" on the defensive end.  Regardless of what his stats are, he committed as much to defense last year as maybe Zach Randolph.  In other words, nothing.  Big Al doesn't have good defensive instincts, but worse, last year he didn't put forth any effort whatsoever on that end.  That explains why opposing big men shot roughly 56% against him, and nearly matched him in rebounds per 48 minutes.

I think that Al gets too much of a bad rap on defense because he's not a center but that's what he's forced to play. His defensive numbers have always been significantly better vs PFs than Cs.

Ironically, Al has said he prefers playing center.

Regardless of the position he was playing, Big Al didn't show up on that end last year, mainly due to effort.

I do agree, however, that he's playing out of position.  Unfortunately, that will continue to be the case, as I can't imagine the Twolves moving Kevin Love to center.

Like I said in my last post this coming season will show Al a little bit better than KG in nearly all  statical  categories, watch and see.
And for the record I'm not knocking KG I have been a fan of his for a long time and still I'm his fan.
I just see Al taking over as a higher elite player this coming season. If Al doesn't  equal or top KG this season I feel he never will, as this will be Al's  5th season in the NBA.
A better perimeter shot from Al would definitely escalate his offensive game from being good to great.
KG doesn't seem to like the  post any longer !

As far as 'statistical categories' are concerned, are you counting team defense and winning percentage?

Sounds like Big Al might be a bit better fantasy player than KG this season.  Little else.

It would appear Mr. Weinman and Mr. Hobbs have more than sufficiently expressed my extreme dissent with the original thesis of this thread.

Points   Rebounds Blocks   FG%
21.0   11.1   1.5   .500

I'd say AJ's time is now, not years down the line. Any GM should take AJ over KG b/c of the 9 year age difference.

However, even me, KEEPBIGAL, now admits that the trade was obviously well worth it. It must have hit me when I was sitting in the Garden during game 6 vs the Lakers

I disagree.  It depends upon what the GM's objectives are.  If he wants a player to maximize a two or three year window of opportunity, I think KG is the guy.  If he wants a player to build around for the future, then obviously you take Big Al.

Big Al has better stats than KG.  KG is a better player.
