For Bobby Jackson, Donte Greene and a 1st round pick.

Good deal for Houston if they find a way of forcing Artest to take his meds, I think. Easier to be said than done though.

Wow..... what a steal by Houston.

Artest should be worth more than scraps (over the hill role player, a late 1st, etc.)

Love it for Houston.  They're going to be a top-tier team on both ends of the court.  Assuming that Artest can keep his head in check, they really improved.

Good move by Houston. What are the Kings thinking?

Expiring contract + young potential.  Plus, they can stick it to the hated Lakers.

Shall the Rockets trade Battier for a decent PG? I wouldn't do it: although the fact that Artest will be playing for a contract can provide some security, he's basically a one year rental. And a McGrady-Artest-Battier wing rotation, with T-Mac playing some minutes as the point-forward and Artest some minutes at the 4 in a small-ball lineup is very appealing. Best perimeter defense in the history of the game?

Word is that a Miller for Nocioni trade is in the making.

wow.  Houston's defense just got even better.   They could put Battier and Artest out there at the same time which should be the best 1 2 punch for wing defense.  I was really thinking the Lakers would eventually anti up and get him.

This deal makes a ton of sense for both teams.  Artest makes the Rockets much more formidable, and the Kings get younger without taking on any more money.

The interesting thing about this move now will be what the Rockets do with Battier.  Do they keep him as their 6th man, or try to turn him into a better PG or PF?

Great move for Houston.

Western Conference race is going to be even harder this upcoming season.  Let 'em continue to duke it out over there.

I like it. Bad for the Lakers...

Maybe Houston will be the best team in Texas, although I foresee conflicts and bad team chemistry on the horizon.

This move and the Kwame signing are both (in my opinion) good for the Celtics.

Good move for Houston. There's a rumor going around now that they are going to send Battier and Alston to Denver for Iverson.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

this is shockingly little even for Artest --- hadn't the Kings said they wanted someone to take on Kenny Thomas' contract in a deal for Artest?  Greene's a fine prospect, but this is basically 2 #20 picks for Artest --- what did they need an expiring contract for? Artest WAS an expiring contract.

Detroit, LA, Dallas, or Cleveland wouldn't have offered more?

It's a good move for SAC to rebuild around their young pieces w/o the Artest distraction --- FWIW Jason Thompson looked very good in Summer League --- but they shoulda/coulda gotten rid of one of their bad contracts too.

If SAC is having a fire-sale 3 guys i'd like to get are:

1. Sheldon Williams (Scal + BBD, 2nd round pick) -- good young big, seems to just need some veterans to play with. Good shotblocker and rebounder. Could he play backup C?

2. Mikki Moore (Scal, BBD, Pruitt and $3M cash and a future 2nd round pick) -- would be a nice change-of-pace backup C for Perk in his 2nd tour of duty with the C's.

3. John Salmons --- I've always like his game and think that like Williams part of his problem has been that he has bounced between being a starter and a reserve and playing with too many young guys... I think i'd prefer him to Mr. Salmon & Mashed Potatoes, or at least beside him.  Scal, BBD 2010 #1 pick.

Brad Miller would be a great fit here but there's no way to match his salary in a trade.
