They went from challenging the the Celtics to being the Clip joint of the south. I know J smith was that great offensively but he was a beast on D. I think the Hawks must believe that Al is their 4 and that he will be a better choice. I hear that Detroit is trying to move Prince for Smith. They wont sign Childress but may trade for a player similar?

They are being the Hawks.

The only difference was the bad play from Boston on the road made them look better then they are.

Childress is already gone, as to what their doing with Josh Smith it just doesnt make any sense. I would fire the coach just to keep Smith happy because the Hawks had a really good thing going in Atlanta. They should make an offer to Okafor quick or try and fix this pronto. Theyve been in the gutter too long and they were about to b e a contender. Fun team to watch too bad Smith wants out.

I wouldn't do that trade.  I am not a big Josh Smith fan first of all...clearly he's a talented kid...but it doesnt seem like his head is all there and he's way to in love with his mediocre outside jumpshot.  If they could convince the Pistons to trade Rasheed and Prince for Josh Smith and Marvin Williams that is a trade Atlanta should make.  Their starting 5 would be pretty good:

PG- Bibby
SG- J. Johnson
SF- Prince
PF- R. Wallace
C- Horford

I also think this is a pretty good trade for Detroit as they could slide Maxiell into the starting 5 in Sheed's spot, let Marvin Williams take Tayshaun's spot.  I dont know if it works salary wise.

Josh Smith is very athletic. Ray Allen is just plain good. No deal.

Detroit is looking bare this year at the C position, so I could see a Sheed/Prince for Smith/Pachulia making more sense. Detroit would then only need to add a couple vets to the bench to help and they'd be back to title contenders again. Atlanta would then be twice as good as they were last year with another pick up or 2.

Bibby, Law          -             Billups, Stuckey
Johnson, Mo Evans   -             Hamilton, Afflalo
Prince, Marvin      -             Josh S, Amir J
Horford, Solomon    -             Maxiell, Hermann
Sheed, (free agent) -             McDyess, (free agent)
       (Lorenzan Wright)                   (Jamal Magloire)
Can't stop, Rondo!

I know it's a free country, but why do we keep hypothetically offering up Ray Allen as a trade chip?  He was key to our winning #17 and he comes off the books in two years which makes him 100X more valuable when his contract is expiring.  It's just getting to be a little bit like a running joke is all.

If they re-sign Smith, the consensus among fans will be that they are overpaying.

I'm a big fan of Josh Smith, but i agree...even if the hawks resign him, they will be overpaying.
