To all the other soccer fans in this forum, what's the deal with Eto'o?  I just saw an article that he was close to signing with a team in Uzbekistan.  Is there any truth to it, or is it just a wild rumor?

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
That seriously can't be happening, that would be like Dwayne Wade signing with a Greek team. Can't really happen, even if they are trying to make an offer he will take less to play somewhere with a real team.

It's true but he didn't
sign with them.
He would of made a lot of
money there, though.

it is not true yet.
there were discussions between Eto'o and the club. no real signing.
what really happened to stir all this talk in the media was that the uzbekistan club put up in their main website that Eto's will be playing for them next season.
but the Barcelona owner and GM quilckly came out to deny it the next day.
Eto'o is under contract with Barcelona, he is not a free agent, and it is their choice to sell his contract to another team.
Eto'o may move clubs, but for now he is still with Barcelona

Samuel Eto'o is never gonna sign for an Uzbek club, come on. This is just usual summer gossip in football.
The new Barça manager does not want the player (as Eto'o seems to be a bit of a problematic locker room presence, talks too much bullsh*t infront of the media and has lost many of the Barça fans who stood behind him all these years due to some late season indiscipline), so Barcelona has put him up for sale.
Word is Chelsea and Milan (amongst others like Arsenal, Inter or Tottenham) wanted him but were scared off by Barcelona's 40 Million Euro price tag. Latest rumour is Real Madrid might be interested in the Camerunese, although Barcelona reportedly wont sell him to their archrival.
In the end, my money is on Eto'o ending up either in Inter (if Mourinho pushes hard for him) or one of the English clubs Chelsea/Arsenal/Tottenham as part of the deal for Drogba, Adebayor or Berbatov respectively.

Personally I would not mind him staying. He is a good player, gives 100% on the pitch and is not worse than Adebayor or Berbatov. Problem is, he is not the smartest guy in the world and he definitely talks way too much crap.
