Grant Hill.  Always seemed like a stand up guy who is smart and commands a lot of respect.  Also with all the time he missed I wouldn't be surprised if he is in no rush to get away from the game of basketball.

Tim Duncan.  When he retires Pop will give him the head-coaching job and he will lead the Spurs to another dynasty.  It will be like Red and Bill 2.0  haha jk.

Posey.  He knows what it takes to win and he is one hell of a motivator.  A very smart and humble person too.

Darrick Martin and Eric Snow are the first two that come to mind. Darrell Armstrong is another. Possibly Rasheed Wallace.

Steve Nash, Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, Rajon Rondo, Gomes, and don't underestimate Allen Iverson. He'd never have practice so tons of players would want to play for him. You know the reporters would be like "what happened at practice today" and he'd be like "what?"

Ray Allen. I also agree about AI he would be perfect to deal with a team of trouble makers.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Great call with Eric Snow...great players usually don't make great coaches...a lot of things they did came so naturally, they have a hard time making a transition to coaching...they get frustrated because they could play the game at such a high level and it aggravates them when players "just don't get it"...Snow, being a point guard and a role player, can convey the nuances of the NBA game to players...very rarely to you see a great player coach for an extended period of time...great players make good GM's (look at the former great Celtics), because they can evaluate and recognize talent, and more importantly, they recognize good basketball players

Ok I meant he could coach kids from a troubled background with anger problems, not the clinically insane. Starbury is the later.

I agree with your premise but there are exceptions. Larry Legend was a very good coach who isn't that great of a GM. You could also argue that Isiah Thomas is a good coach but a terrible gm.

Rasheed Wallace is a good call.  I know it's a Simmons rip-off, but Sam Cassell could definitely do it.  When I think of possible future coaches I think of second level guards, like Lenny Wilkins, Doc, Ainge, Mo Cheeks and Avery Johnson.  Guys like that who come to mind are Derrick Fisher, Steve Blake, and Chauncy Billups (although he's definitely better then second level).

Alonzo Mourning is a guy that I could easily see as an assistant coach

First, I agree with your premise that guards are the place to look when looking for future coaches and you can narrow that down further by saying guards that were good because of their BBIQ.

Example: I think MJ, Vince Carter, and Tracey McGrady are more athletic basketball players first and mental basketball players second. I think they would all suck as coaches.

Ray Allen, the aforementioned Eric Snow, Andre Miller, these are guys that bring a calmness to the game, that can communicate very well and see the game, if you know what I mean.

Second, I think you owe lenny Wilkens and Maurice Cheeks apologies for calling them second level guards.

I don't know why anybody would watch the Espys.
I would hardly call Wilkins and Cheeks second level anything.
The thugster can't behave himself...Let alone coach.
I don't know that Cassell would be taken seriously enough.
I think Mourning may be a little too intense for today's NBA player

Scalabrine
Posey
Wallace
Snow, Hill, and Duncan are also excellent ideas
Lafrenz

Good role players and good communicators seem to make the best coaches.
