As a pianist myself, I defy anyone on this board to prove that Oden was actually playing the piano during that bit on the ESPYs with Timberlake. I don't care what he says. He may actually play the piano quite well in real life, but he wasn't playing on the ESPYs. No way. Fake piano and fake guitar are super easy to decipher when you actually play those instruments. Oden was definitely faking on the piano.

But his singing was real. Not bad. Not bad at all, Greg.

consider that greg's hands are three times the size of a normal man, it may look a bit different when he plays piano.

I also play the piano and I dont see why it is so farfetched to think that he was playing the piano. He was playing basic chords at a relatively slow pace. If he has been playing the piano since he was a child, he could definitely pull this off. He wasnt playing the piano throughout the entire song, just mostly the beginning. I defy anyone to prove that Oden wasnt playing the piano.

haha, really didn't look real, especially when they played the backup guitar and drums to accompany the piano.

the sky cam has him moving his fingers to match the notes played. it didn't look real, but why would they have oden of all people fake the piano? i think he played it.

The sky cam is what gives it away. I watched it half a dozen times. It's brief and a little hard to to see, but his hands jump half an octave or so on the keyboard during a section of the music when the chords aren't changing.

Call me cynical, but a blog entry doesn't confirm anything for me. Perhaps I'm digging myself a hole towards becoming a laughing stock, but I trust my eyes and ears more than I trust a few words on a blog. Like I said before, I wouldn't doubt that Oden plays the piano - I just don't think he was actually playing on the ESPYs. I don't think he was lying on his blog, I think it was joking. What was that one show? Punk'd? I think he was "punking" everyone. I really do.
