If the Lakers match Turiaf.

Boston trades Powe (home town favorite for GS) and Scali

for

Kelenna Azubuike  (2/3 year deal, 1.5 to 2 million a year)

A nice, reasonable trade.
Powe would replace Turiaf and would be a huge fan favorite in Oakland.
Azubuike became redundant when GSW signed Corey M, but he would provide nice depth for the Cs; he might require more $$ per year, though.

And after looking at 82games.com, his opponents PER was average, but lower then Barnes (and Pietrus)

I like it, but how are we going to replace Powe?

Davis becomes the backup PF.

Sign either Thomas, Elson or Anderson to be the backup C.

Scali is the 3rd PF
O'Bryant is the 3rd C.

More of a lateral move than anything else but it would be a solid move. That's the type of Azubuike contract I'd love.

One thing ..... Wouldn't Powe be harder to replace in free agency than acquiring a respectable wing? There's not exactly a lot of quality in free agency big men.

I think only one of Powe or Davis should be getting the major minutes off the bench (with the 4th big man being a C)

So if the Celtics can move one of them to get fill another hole, then it is probably a good move.

Scali is the 3rd PFO'Bryant is the 3rd C.

You included Scal in the trade you proposed, so we can't go that route.  If the Cs signed Thomas, he could backup at both the PF and C, so shouldn't be a problem.  I agree with you that while it would hurt to lose Powe, at some point the Cs need to decide between Powe and Davis.  O/W Powe is just going to walk at the end of the year for nothing in return.  Time to trade him is now....

On a terrible defensive team, his opp per would be better here you'd think, yes?

Many trades on here are dumb.  This one is not.  It shows intelligence, and I am appreciative of the post.

I'd rather see BBD than Powe in here, of course, but that is far less realistic.

I too like this trade...  Powe is redundant, and I think that Davis, frankly, has more potential (stronger, more skills). It would also be nice to see Powe get to go back to G-State rather than some backwater.

WHAT!? Davis has more potential? WHAT?  That has to be a joke. Does anyone remember Game 2? Anyone? Lets see Davis do that.

as for the trade, i love azu. you can even add in giddens or walker in that trade. i would rather trade davis but you have to give up SOMETHING important.

I'm a big believer in Powe, and I'd like to retain him over BBD, if for no other reason, then we have Powe's bird rights and not BBDs. But BBD probably has more long term upside (both Powe and Davis have had games where they take over, remember BBD against Pistons where he seemed to score or go to the line everytime down the floor in the 4th quarter?) so if the team were comfortable with him, fine. BBD is also a better bet at Center IMO, which is a weakness in Powe's game when you have KG at PF and Perkins at C - the backup big needs to do the Center stuff that KG doesn't (or doesn't like to).

Don't know much about the GSW guy, but he looks like a solid option at both wing spots based on 82 games, is he much of a 3pt shooter?
