  • The good ole days.
Oden.   he will get a lot of credit (probably deserving credit) of turning Portland into a solid playoff team, possible vying for a top 4 seed.

His presence will allow Roy and Aldridge to take a big step in their development.

p.s.  I to thought this was about Roy Hobbs.

I don't think Portland even sniffs a top 4 seed, personally.  I think those will be locked up by LA, New Orleans, San Antonio, and Utah again.  I could see Portland stealing a playoff spot from Denver, but I think they're another year away from passing Houston, Phoenix, or Dallas.

I think Oden will get plenty of credit (assuming this guy stays healthy, I just have a bad feeling that he never will) for getting them to 50 wins, but I think ROY has come down to numbers and I don't see Oden putting up too eye-opening numbers.

I'm just not a fan of Oden being a rookie. >:( My vote is for Rose. He'll have the ball in his hands a lot.

Why?  He hasn't played in the NBA yet.  He would be only finished his sophomore season.

I'm gonna say if the Blazers make the playoffs, its Oden, if they don't its Mayo

I don't think Beasley will start in Miami... could be wrong, but just seems like the kind of thing Miami would do

I'm not sure Rose will "star" in Chicago his first year, he could be a 6th man as well, especially if Hinrich isn't traded, but PR wise, he probably will start

Oden will average a double double, and if his team can make the playoffs, it'll be enough to get him the hardware

Mayo is gonna be explosive and a solid scorer for Memphis.  Unfortunately they'll probably win 20 games.

i voted for mayo, simply bc he is in the best situation to put up decent numbers.  most times, it isnt about the impact or contributions that a rookie makes, as much as it is usually about the individual statistics.  mayo is in the ideal situation for a ROY award bc he will have the ball alot, will get lots of minutes, and lots of shots.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Beasley is gonna start at the 3 and he's going to be so scary to the world.

Mayo's situation isn't the same as Durant's because while the talent around them is very much similar (terrible teams), Durant is just flat out way better.

No brainer! Its going to be Oden in a landslide. He will average 13pts 9rebs & make a major impact on defense which has to be accounted for with 3 blocks a game with many altered. thats why he will win because his D will help Portland into the playoffs while the other rookies who has a outside shot to win the R.O.Y. play zero defense & wont sniff the big show!

Oden dominated the tournament with his left hand.

No contest.

I see Mayo striving for Mike Miller numbers his first season. He's way too reliant on his perimeter shot right now.

Am I the only one who thought when he first saw this post that it was about Hobbs?

Hobbs is no longer a rookie in the league ;)

I think the voting for ROY usually goes to whomever scores the most points. Just look at Durant/Horford. Durant won when Horford was clearly better. Horford even took his team to the playoffs! - and still lost to Durant who's team was absolutely dreadful.

So if Beasley gets enough playing time, he'll probably win it, followed by Oden (who'll be awesome defensively) and maybe Rose, who's also going to score points.

I agree with the previous poster: OJ Mayo will be a bust. He'll put up points which will lead people to think he's a good player, but he will do it inefficiently plus he'll be dreadfull handling the ball - reflected by his Assist to Turnover ratio...
