My cousin in New York just told me that a reporter named Mike Francessa just had a story on WFAN that James Posey will be signing with another team. He thinks it was New Orleans, but wasn't sure.

Uh Oh.  If this is true then the worst has happened, losing out on both Maggette AND Posey.

Let's just hope this source is as credible as Hoopsworld.

I like the first reason.

On the second, it does bear noting that the rumored-to-be-breaking-up Mike and Chris are doing a special this weekend...and they are on this afternoon....

Correct on Steve's last post. Mike and Chris were on this morning, I believe, doing a special from the Fan fest starting at 10 AM and running up to the Yankee game.

I'm shocked they could get him in.  Thanks for the correction.

Let me substitute a different reason.

3.  2+ hours have passed and I haven't seen anyone else even hint at this "news".

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Posey sign with the Cavs at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

My sisters girlfriend knows a girl who only last night...Well, i better stop there, because its only a rumor; But he said he was going to be in town for quite a while longer and for her to give him a call (wink-wink), so there...

I'm sure of it, James is resigning with the World Champions!  :)

So is this true?

Although the OP seemed sincere with regards to what his cousin heard from a named source, although the cousin "wasn't sure" who actually signed Poze  ::)

1. Could have been an exclusive given to an AM talk show...

2. There may have been some miscomunication between said cousin, who doesn't seem to be reliable or the OP if they collectively "aren't sure" with who this exclusive reporter and his source should have reported Posey actually signing with, if it was anything more than loose rumors...

3. Also, by this time I'm sure more than one report would have surfaced, if it was indeed a done deal.

Meaning, useless hearsay and same old rumors...Nothing new here...

Also, as Soap and I were recently discussing, this hardly seems the sort of thing that would be of interest to Francesa.  He's a baseball-football-horse racing guy to the fullest extent and seems to only resort to basketball in no-choice situations (playoffs, Finals, Knicks trauma etc.).

That isn't to say that he couldn't have mentioned this on the FAN, but as an avid listener of the station, it's one more reason why I'm a bit surprised by the report here.

I too would hold off panicking on this one...at least for now.

Amen to that- and TP for you.  Francesa always talks about horse-racing and I don't ever enjoy his basketball "insight".

 What is CROTOR?

OMG.

If it's really true... I think it was the right move by both sides at this point. I'll miss him still, although I don't think he was worth the 4-year MLE he was seeking. =(((
