I was reading the Fiba basketball site today and saw this article.  Don't know what to make of it really or how true it is but I'd be all for Arroyo as a backup PG.

In my opinion Arroyo is the best point gaurd available as a backup. If this is true it would make me happy

Arroyo has a chance to sign with Boston, Denver, Miami, Cleveland or Golden State.

I wonder if there have been offers extended to Arroyo from those clubs, or if the author is merely surveying the NBA landscape and identifying possible suitors.

I wouldn't mind signing Arroyo.

From what I hear he is also an egomaniac.

Yeah, doesn't sound very concrete. But if he came to Boston, I think it could be a very good signing.

Isn't it nice to have teams in this town (patriots and celtics mostly) that have such good foundations that we're sure that the good atmosphere of our teams will be enough to turn out people w/ character issues such as Arroyo.

Well, at least he's an egomaniac with legitimate pg skills.

I watched him quite a bit with my dad who is a Jazz fan while he was out there. He is definitely an egomaniac, but has really good  offensive abilities and can create shots for guys. He plays decent defense. Nothing amazing. If we could add him in place of Cassell I think that is a big upgrade...

I never can forget the FIBA games wear he torched the US team. He was clearly the best player on the court that day.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

i always wondered as to why this guy hasn't settled in some where.   When he went down to Orlando, I thought the PG job was his and he got beat out by Jameer Nelson.

Dude has skills.   Mad skills.   did you see him pick team USA apart when the played Puerto Rico a few years back.   He was the best player on the court.

Something is up upstairs, otherwise he wouldn't be this journeyman NBA point guard.

BirdNerd - thanks for mentioning the Puerto Rico vs. USA circa 2004 (i think it was '04).

Arroyo was the primary reason the USA lost that game. He was quick, wild, and had a bit of flash too. He is a true triple-threat PG and that's what we need.

KG will MAKE him check his ego at the door.

Also, you've got to figure that after winning a world championship with Puerto Rico he's got to be hungry for an NBA title - then he can say he's won it all at the highest levels.

Not bad, the Celtics could do a lot worse than Arroyo.

Agreed.  For a backup PG, the Cs could do worse.  Would he be willing to take the LLE?  He should be able to get more elsewhere....
Celtics fan for life.
