I just researched the top 10 rumored OKC NBA names and have found that only 1 is registered with the NBA's Domain Name registrar.

Thunderbirds

Also, Clay Bennett is known for being a "Staunch" Republican...he probably had this name in mind for some time now. I mean you can't tell me he hasn't found something he likes in the last 5 years he has been dreaming about this moment.

So what does being an Ultra-Conservative have to do with it?

And no, no name has been registered by the NBA's attorney of record, Anil V. George, yet. But if someone were to intercept their creative ambitions, they could easily prove the person was acting in "Bad "Faith".

Oklahoma City Thunderbirds...no not the 80's kids show the Thundercats, thats a name that they would have trouble registering.

thats a horrible name. I was hoping for Tornadoes or Dust Devils, but they probably would not be allowed to have devil in their name like Tampa Bay. A stolen team deserves a bad name so I guess its good news.

Thundercats would be much cooler. ;)

Good research.  I heard there was some support for Outlaws, which is a better nickname than Thunderbirds, without doubt.

The OKC ThunderBirds.

Doesn't do it for me. I could see the name being changed officially to T-Birds in less than a decade. Like Knickerbockers to Knicks or Devil Rays to Rays

I like the Thundercats better too Roy! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Just thought of something. Thundercats would rule as a name. After every baskets the PA guy could say:
"Kevin Durant from Green! 2 points, Thunnnnnnnnnnnnnndercats!"

and the crowd could repond:

"HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"!!!!

The atmosphere would be unreal in tight games.

Why not just go with Thunder then.

You know they're going to have some god-awful thunder noise every time they score a bucket.
Yup

Let's not forget the obligatory Thunder Sticks in the team colors that will be available free for the first 10000 people to walk through the gates.
