With the big news hitting today, and the millions of Seattle Hearts Shattering into tiny little pieces, it may be too soon to consider a pithy thread revolving around the name of a new team in Oklahoma City.

But how can one resist?

Since I know virtually nothing about Oklahoma City, I'm going to refrain from even the most obvious, innapropriate nicknames for such a team - but anybody got any good ideas?

OKC Cowboys or Desparados or something seems about right.

On a side note, look at this

Tulsa and Oklahoma City don't look all bad. They actually look really really really good.

I remember doing one of these last year.  The best answer was the "Oklahoma Knockout" or the "OKKO" for short.  I can't remember the poster, but he was very adamant that he'd gone through the proper channels to have it copyrighted to him, so even though I can't remember who he was, he was most certainly not me.

I voted for the "Oklahoma Panhandlers"

I have some friends who've lived in Tulsa and some friends who still currently live in Tulsa.  They have nothing but good things to say about it.  Really good indie music scene.

I thought I read that part of the agreement to get out of the lease in Seattle was maintaining the Sonics name. Is that right?

Any one of three suits me fine. I think it's important to pick something that represents their franchise.

I think the deal is that the city of Seattle retains the name "Sonics", in case they get another team to move there.  It's similar to what happened when the Browns left Cleveland.  They moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens, and then an expansion franchise came in there and became known as the new "Browns".

Yes, but OKC gets duplicate banners. Which is weird. Seattle gets to keep the colors and actual banners though along with the name

The OKC SHowtime
The OKC Tremendous Upsides.

Please no more expansion teams. i don't like how the Hornets left and Charlotte got a new team which seemed like right away.

I vote for the Oklahoma City Lebrons (everyone else is kissing up to him, so why not them too?)
