I know he has limited salary protection but I have absolutely no idea what that means. Powe needs to be a lifetime Celtic, with how hard he works the sky is the limit for this guy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It means that if he was waived before some date last summer, they wouldn't have to pay any of his salary for the 2007/2008 season. So it means nothing at this point. He has one year left on his contract and is making around $600,000. After the 2008/2009 season he'll be an unrestricted free agent.

I think that means that he has partial guaranteed money. If he passes a certain date, his contract becomes guaranteed, much like what Brandon Wallace had this year with the Celtics.

Why unrestricted? Shouldn't he be restricted?

Don't worry about that stuff.  All you need to know is that he is signed through next season, then he becomes a restricted FA with full bird rights (meaning they can sign him for whatever they want to, even though they are over the cap).

also, because he will have been with us for three years we will have his bird rights and be able to offer him any amount and outbid competition should it come to that

Even if we didn't have bird rights, say if he was a free-agent this year, no team should be able to outbid the Celtics, mainly because of the Gilbert Arenas Provision. We'll see how Big Baby's situation goes after next year, since he only signed for two years.
