Usually when you have a huge blowout like that in a finals series you see them throw in guys who didn't get any run. I was surprised why Pruitt and Scal and Sam didn't get in that game at all. Even if it was only for 1-2 minutes. Especially Scal and Pruitt who didn't play at all in the finals. Any ideas why Doc didn't put them in to at least get their names in the stat sheets?!

Even with 2 minutes left if you put Scal in they could come back.

You can only have 12 active players for the game so it wouldn't have been possible to get Pruitt or Scals in.

I'm not sure why Cassell didn't get in.

I'm assuming Cassell was injured. Maybe drunk though.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Scal, Pruitt, and Pollard were not in uniform for the game, they were all in suits during the game, they changed into their jerseys for the on the court celebration.

Sam was the only active player not to get into the game.

That's right. I forgot those two weren't active since they were dressed. TP for the reminder!

As far as Sam, half of me was kind of grinning that House got all the glory out there. I am obviously on the anti-Sam list. Due to the fact that I don't really dislike him personally, the other half felt kind of sorry for him.

Didn't Cassell hurt his wrist a few games ago?

Doc also never plays the old guys (PJ & Sam) in garbage time if they have been sitting all game.

I was asking my friends the same thing about cassell in our email thread today. I would've thought we'd have seen him. But, if he was too hurt to get 2 mins of run during garbage time in the champship game then Scal should've been dressed so he could've dropped some sweat on the court.

Could be nobody on the Celtics brain trust anticipated a thorough blowout of the Lakers in game 6.  If the game was close, then Cassell might have been needed, thus probably why Scalabrine wasn't activated. Not sure if Scalabrine could have been activated so close to game time but I'm sure Rivers would have used Cassell if the game was closer, certainly over Scalabrine.

I'm sure Doc out of respect to the veteran asked Sam if he wanted to get in for a couple of minutes of garbage time, and Sam said something like "don't worry about it."

I have no official clue on this, just speculation on my part.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

go back in your mind and imagine Scal hitting a 3 with 2 seconds left
that would be the cherry on top

Little known fact, Sam tried to get in at the end with 4 minutes to go but KG had him in a big hug and Sam couldn't break away and get to the scorer's table to check in. ;)
